I put new poly can mounts in. The front D/swans so bad the cab was sagging about 1". Door is finally lined up now. Then I started wiring my trailer lights. Everything will be relayed and fused to isolate them. I also made this little relay holder to save space under the hood and prevent drilling excessive holes in the fender.
I bought a new first gen a few days ago.... a 1993 W350 club cab 4x4 DRW with 145,710 original miles. The truck has the A518 auto trans, with the dealer-installed auxiliary trans cooler option. Here is a picture of the new rig.

I went ahead and pulled the timing cover off yesterday and capped the dowel pin. For anyone who might be curious, this is a picture of the dowel pin after nearly 146,000 miles. That boy was well seated, and nowhere near ready to come out. Better safe than sorry.
I also went ahead and changed oil, and put fleetguard oil and fuel filters on the truck. Next up is a valve adjustment, and figuring out some wiring issues. A headlight relay is first on the list, as I lose my headlights occasionally at night.
Put the bed back on in preparation of our annual wheeling/camping trip. Then haulled the jeep to a buddy's house who is hauling the rigs while I pull the camper.

First off, that is one fine looking truck!
Regarding your headlight issue; you might want to check out the combi-switch on your steering column. I had an issue with mine losing headlights also. Mine would cut out sometimes when I would switch from high to low beams. Swapped in a switch from a parts truck and no more issues.

My '91.0 was doing the same thing.
Swapped in another switch off my '90 dump truck and I was good to go.
I only use my dump truck around the property during daylight hours, so it can have the temperamental switch.

Thank you!
I was doing some digging this morning and that switch came up in discussion. It makes sense to me, seeing as every time I switch the brights on, they quit intermittently. Low beams run fine, though. Is this switch something that I can get locally, or is it something that must come from a parts truck?
Thank you, sir! I'm looking forward to what' to come with this rig.
Me too.... I gots the same one, SRW version..
Love it...
Today, I ordered a new harmonic balancer (vibration dampener) for the engine. Figured since I'm a couple hundred miles away from 200,000, I'd give it a fresh one.
Nothing unusual happening, but the rubber starts to go bad over time.
I've been loosing coolant like crazy the last week or so. Finally took a few minutes to figure to where it was coming from....looks like a new water pump is needed.
Drove mine 30 miles home from work in the rain.... Without windshiled wipers.
At least it wasn't dark.
Got some parts in the mail though so tomorrow will start to adjust valves and get rid of the fuel heater as it leaks. Found the reverse metric adapter for just a arm, not the leg also.
