aeronb,
That looks like a good use of a 1st gen even if the weight rating is not getting used to its fullest.

So the bike on the front isn't just to keep you from popping a wheelie?

Removed, cleaned and reinstalled both door latches. The locks were sticky and hard to operate and the latches were pretty gummed up. Both of them were caked with dirt and grime. They’re now clean and lubed up and operate like new.

Also installed new door seals on both sides, as well as new window seals and felts on the passenger door. I’ll do thedtivers door tomorrow.

Where did you get your door seal, window seals and felts at.. and how well do they work. From what I have heard it's pretty hard to find good ones

I think I got mine from rockauto or another online supply, and they've been great for nearly 8 or 9 years.

Has the quality suffered recently?

I got my door seal kit from rock auto in 2015. The seals are good. The felts are JUNK! Since I installed them 4 years ago. the rear corner of the felt pulls up/down when using the window. The locking tabs are not near the quality of the oem ones.

I think from Rockauto. I bought them a while ago. The fit is so good that the doors are a little hard to get closed.

I just received a set of door to cab seals in the mail this morning. Got them from LMC. I've had others from Steele Rubber before and I just went out to look and compare and I would say that they are identical except the Steele Rubber ones are a lot more expensive. I've had window felts from both places too and again they look and performed identically. The one thing about window felts is I can never get them installed and clicked in like they were from the factory. They pop out in the back when you use the window crank just like peckens said. What's the trick?

The trick is to have a manufacturer of the window sweeps use a good quality spring steel/tin for the clips so that when they deflect on installation they snap back into the original shape and hold the sweeps tight. They started using cheap metal on the clips and they now just bend and stay bent allowing the sweeps to rattle around.

I got my window and door seals from J.C.Whitney about 14 years ago. They work great and were easy to install a couple years ago when I painted the truck.

Just finished drivers door window seals. Windor operates great.

Now to track down why I can’t operate right window from drivers switches.

I think I have some wires to repair.......
Locks not working and can't roll passenger window up or down from drivers side.

I was plagued with window malfunctions and door lock malfunctions until I found that the wiring harness did the same in mine. Since replacing all the wires through the door, and wrapping them up nice and tight, it's been good since.

Funny how thousands of opening and closing a door can cause havoc, eh ?
