Yer gonna need an extension on that shifter so it reaches all the way to the roof!

Haha priorities fellas! They say shortening the shifters can cause you to have trouble shifting. The shorter it is the faster you'll go from one hole to another. If the engine doesn't drop rpms fast enough you won't make a smooth gear change.
Regardless I plan on shortening it some lol

When I first saw that picture, and got the crick out of my neck, I thought that you were cutting a hole in the roof for a new sun roof / being able to shift it outside the truck.

I guess I was way off, huh ?

Haha maybe not a bad idea! It's a little taller than the steering wheel right now. Got to drive it for the first time today and have a lot of things to work out. Shifter being one lol

Today was somewhat productive, albeit a bit rainy....

Took trash to the dump
Adjusted rear brakes
Installed winter tires
greased the front prop shaft and steering / kingpin assemblies

Then came the fabricating....

Made myself a "fan clutch" tool.

Used it to remove the fan and shroud, but then I couldn't get the bolts off the harmonic balancer. I ordered a High Torque ratchet to see if that will work, otherwise, I have to pull the radiator out, which is what I'm trying to avoid......

Oh well.... there's always tomorrow.

Another option is to use a small hand-sledge hammer and chisel on a corner of the nut. usually you have to hold the pully somehow as well if you plan on using non-impact torque. You'll replace the fan clutch and nut before it gets buggered up enough to be compromised in any way, no matter how many times you need to remove it. IIRC, the nut is a 33mm.

Others have used an air hammer with chisel.

I've used the air chisel in the past on an old clutch fan replaced years ago. I started this task by using the air chisel, but it was damaging the 1 7/16 (33mm) nut . That's when I took out a set of calipers and began fabbing up ..

I have never have had much luck using an air chisel on anything.

Ha! That just made my day. Nice wrench...id recommend painting it some neon color, so you don't lose it before you need it again later down the road.
