Yes sir I have thought about doing that with a tube in a tube and a set screw where I could extend them, when I tow, I was worried about the shaking though.

I beat on one for hours before it finally worked its way off. The rust seizes the joint and it fits very tight.

Have fun but don't get to rough with it and crack it.

Believe they were 8"x8" centered at the 90* bend. As for shaking, I thought it might be an issue too...but they are actually very stable, even at highway speed. Actually think they are more stable then the stock ones I removed. But might be due to the solid bar I used for the mounting as well.

The HX35 I picked up a few years ago required weeks of PB blaster, heat cycles, pounding until it finally let go. PITA sometimes.

I did the same thing. I thought I was never going to get that thing apart.

And it came apart today. I liberally applied PB over the weekend and this morning after some persuasion with a mini sledge it popped off.

Cleaned up the flange and put the 18Cm housing on.

Before the turbo goes back on the Automatic Transmission heat exchanger is getting removed. Plan to simply run a hose from the upper fitting to the lower, basically water will flow as if it's going thru the exchanger but it won't be there.

I do a lot of towing, I am always looking for ways to keep my trans and coolant cooler...

I am not worried about heating the trans fluid in winter, I keep it in the barn.

would doing the exchanger bypass keep things cooler ? ?

to the collective knowledge base.......what say ye.

No it will not help keep your transmission run cooler at all, but it will help your engine radiator stay cooler. I just don't understand why people feel the need to remove it.

Trucks now a 5 spd.

Shed it to save weight and eliminate a possible failure point.

Sorry, no sig.

Well yesterday we had an early afternoon service at church and no evening service so I had a little time to look at the CTD ...

I fabed up a "shelf/bracket" that would alllw me to mount the ECM to the original bracket inside the fender... all 3 molded in mounting tabs on the new to me ECM are busted off so... at least it's not laying loose at the inside bottom of the front fender panel

And then...!!!!! I let my oldest two kidos (14 yrs and 12yrs) drive it around the field... first time for both of them and it was hilarious... glad it is an automatic or we would have never made it up the drive way!!

Farmboy, those are the exact mirrors that I used! Apparently I don't know how to quote my post with the pictures. But they are on page 240 of this thread.

So I came across these junior west coast mirrors and thought I'd try them. I had to trim some off the bottom bar, as well as extend the top one out because they are designed for an old school rig with more of a flat door profile.
