I have a question, I know you guys will know what I am talking about.

I am looking for the mirrors that use the factory base and also mount to the top of the door like west coast mirrors, heck maybe the guy made the ones I saw.

give me an idea of what to look for.

thanks Dar

At a standstill with the Hydroboost conversion project till the filter comes in, and used the time available by finally installing the second dual valve cover set that I had. Didn't think I'd use it, cause I couldn't source an actual "wye" fitting with 3/4" end connections. didnt like the looks of a tee fitting. Found one finally, so tied them all in

The 3/4" silicone tubing terminates nicely at the wheel well, outside of the frame.

Never really cared for how the factory wiring looms, vac lines and washer fluid tubing was attached to the firewall with those chintzy clips. I'm sure it looked great back in the day when new. This has been bugging me for years, as some of the vac lines and such were too close to hot parts. Decided to clean it up some today. Nothing fancy, just a couple of zip ties, and a 1" rubber coated clamp from Orileys.

I know what you talking about......

There is the large wide base mirrors.

or the standard mirror base.

And then the actual westcoast mirrors.

Think the set-up your looking for uses the combination of these systems....depends on the brackets on your existing doors.

I have been loving having the old '91 on the road the past three days. I can drop my daughter off at school in it on Monday. She loves the wistful looks the other kids at school give us as we pull up in some paint peeling, loud, old classic Dodge truck. It makes the rest of the kids getting dropped off in Priuses jealous. The hippy moms just roll their eyes at me and sigh... Okay it makes my day too.
I get the same thing when pick my daughters up at school. Lots of the kids just love my truck, as well as a few of the Dads. But it's the look of disgust on the granola munching mothers faces that just makes me laugh.

Because of the addition of the fittings to the high pressure side of the Hydroboost line, it raised it up really close to the wheel well sheet metal. Probably not a big deal, but it could be.

After 32 years of using these darn things, I planned on donating these to the next generation of tin knockers in the apprenticeship, but so glad I still had them for this task.

this is the one I'm talking about but the bottom terminates in the original mirror base, the more I think about it the more I think the guy had to have made it custom that way.

I think you are correct. Have you considered mounting up a set of mirrors like I did on my crewcab.....

They work pretty darn good, and give decent visibility when towing my trailer.

Cows, what are the dimensions (height and length) of the bar you used to mount the mirror? I read the thread but can't can't remember off the top of my head. Yeah, I meant to do that!
