I'm sure there are flag purists who would take you out back and shoot you for doing that, but then again....
would like to meet one of these "flag purists" that have spent as much time defending it as i have

To all those that served:
Thank you for protecting our freedom to use the flag for a head liner. As I see it, you kept that flag flying. You fly it in your rig as you see fit.

God Bless, and thank you and your families.

Ok, I get it. Just playing devils advocate.

I'm by NO means a purist, but I do know that there are folks out there that think that say you desecrated the flag by using it as a ceiling covering in your truck. for me, it wouldn't work, as there are too many colors around me while I drove around. I have enough difficulty driving as it is with all these crazy people on the road. I still find it interesting to look at, though.

For those who feel you did something wrong, this is the reason for their concern
Flag Code
Section 8.f

The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

Do what you want with your truck, but don't be surprised if some old guy sees it and calls the flag police on you...

Interesting read, none the less, regarding the care, display and rules of the symbol of the country in which we live in, although I think 30 days in Jail is a bit over the top.

I'm the king of playing "devil's advocate", no harm done! besides, you're from new jersey, it's not your fault

i'm well aware of the "laws" regarding Old Glory. If you desecrate(burn/stomp/fly upside down) the flag, you better hope the law gets to you before I do. Intent is everything. If johnny law wanted to give me problems for that headliner, I'd tell them to lock me up and throw away the key. You'll be hard pressed to find someone more patriotic than this guy right here.

bmouser, thank you for the good words!

anyhoo, moving past that. I have a question, hopefully someone has some pictures. Has anyone installed/fabricated an under the bed gooseneck hitch? I see there is a company that makes one but it's ~$500, which is about $400 more than i'd like to spend. I don't really want the mount or ball in the bed at all times, just wondering if anyone has done anything like this. I like the hide-a-way units, but as previously mentioned, they're spendy. pictures are good(i'm a bit slow when it comes to words)

Played musical brake parts today. Rigged up vacuum to a booster Nughuffer sent me about a year ago. Seemed good, so I painted it up. Next I took the brake booster out of Blue (the porous truck) that I bought about a year ago and seems to be good. Then I pulled the MC and booster out of my main ride and put in the booster from Blue and a new Bendix MC I've had for over a year. It got dark before I got a chance to bleed it and test it.

I plan to send the MC and booster to Brakes and Equipment for custom rebuild.

I needed 1 clip for the booster to pedal link. Had to buy 12.

One service they have is to bore out and re-sleeve the MC. They do quite a few for the classic crowd, salvaging MC's that are made of unobtainium. It ain't cheap, but it's forever.

Their rebuilder, in TX, has a good reputation, unlike A1-Cardone.

Interesting, I wonder if they do ps pumps too. My wife is on her 3rd cardone pump in less than 2 years. I dont want to have this happen with mine.

Why don't you call them up and ask what they recommend?

Speaking of brakes, I've ended up with the most irritating squeal on my drivers side rear. Only comes on when you do that stop, go for 15 feet, and sloooow to another stop type of driving. In my case, every Friday when I get off at 3 and start the trek home. So the FSM says in adjusting with the brake spoon adjusting the clicker starwheels, adjust till a slight drag is felt. Found that if I use a mechanics stethoscope placed against the inner drum I can "hear" the drag better than feel it. So I adjusted the rears that way. My passenger side rear had to come up 26 clicks and adjust back down 8 clicks to just under a very slight drag. For the drivers side, back off 8 clicks. So what was killin me was poor braking from passenger side, causing me to depress the pedal further, and since the drivers side was already at light drag, it caused a squeal. Hopefully all good from now on

Changed out my lift pump this morning, man it was worse than I thought it was. Took it for a test run with new Lp, my EGT's stay 150-200* cooler across all rpm's, pulls harder and the black cloud that always followed me on hard acceleration is no where near as thick. I hope I didn't hurt my IP from fuel starvation.

Guess it's a group brake issue this week, I picked up all my brake parts and new wheel studs today. Drums, rotors every thing except rubber lines and mc/booster. Added that to my pile of king pin parts in the back seat. Waiting for work to slow down enough I can tear the truck apart for a few days. My new vacuum pump/power steering pump showed up yesterday, took a chance on a nos combo I found on fleabay.

Did the door reinforcement mod today. Thanks to the inventor, doors are much more solid and no longer flex.

That was wheelieking.

He was really an inventive sort of guy, while at the same time sort of a wacko.

Kind of like me !

I'm sure he's done a lot of really cool stuff to his rides, that we'll never find out about. That mod really makes things feel different ..
