My favorite volunteer to use is my friend Gravity, especially now that the kids are grown and gone, the dogs just don't seem to want to cooperate, they'd rather lay there and watch me struggle. If you have the time or other little jobs to do I like to crack the bleeders and let the brake fluid weep out on it's own. If the master was bench bleed good this works good enough to safely drive and sometimes I don't even have to use a vacuum bleeder or if I do, it's very very little and quick.

If you can’t find someone to help bleed the brakes you can always gravity bleed them. I successfully did that on my 90 even with the proportioning valve in the line… Mark

To bleed brakes by myself I use an old pop bottle with a hole drilled in the cap and a piece of old vacuum hose stuffed through, then a small vent hole in the top of the bottle. with the hose inside the bottle just below the level of some fresh brake fluid I then Loosen the bleeder, push the vacuum line on and then start the bleeding process,...slowly press the pedal down, and let it come back up slowly...usually takes me about 30 min to do a complete system.

One might attach a come-a-long to the pipe and crank away until it pops.

Back in the spring I went to put on new brake pads but one caliper piston wouldn't push all the way back in. Removed it and sprayed brake cleaner through and got out some junk out but even with a big C-clamp it would not go back in far enough to get it on the rotor with the new pads. I need the truck so just put it back together...fast forward 6 months and the squealers were starting to make some noise...guess I need to get some new calipers.

Order brand spanking new A/C Delco units and installed those the other day along with the wagner pads I tried installing in the spring. Man the truck stops so much better, you don't realize the slow deterioration over time. Also I hadn't realized one side was grabbing harder then the other....I just had adjusted my driving habits to compensate.

I need to do that. My truck slides left when I have to slam on the brakes.

Recycled my old/used '93 Injectors into my '90 because it'd become a fog machine. That fixed it.

It's too bad I left my new phone on the cowl when I went for the test drive. Not only did it slide off, but it went under the back tire. Guess I'm lucky I found it again, it still works... but with a badly cracked screen.

Same here. I've had new calipers and rotors for about two years now, just no time to put them on yet... Looking forward to not every stop a panic stop!

Bummer on the phone u2slow. At least it wasn't something really important

My Gear Vendors unit apparently had enough of hauling my pulling tractor around and managed to escape from my '90 W250 last night.

I'm sure it has, but it gave no warning except for about 30 seconds before it abandoned the ship.

It felt like I was on a huge rumble strip and it sounded like a big gear set that couldn't mesh at slow speed. I was off the throttle and in Neutral, which may have saved the rest of the driveline, but that's up for speculation.

GV rates them at 2000 hp and 25000lb gcvw.

Yeah, it rattled for a few seconds.....

Sorry to hear about and see the GV destruction BHD, that looks expensive.

Would the truck still limp down the road in 4x4 using the front driveshaft?

Yeah, I was only about 10 miles from home and the trailer was empty, after I saw what happened I locked the hubs in and drove it home.

I'll be purchasing a metal detector today to try to find the little speedo transmission gear box that is made from unobtainium.
