What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
Hmm should it be on a A/C equipped truck LOL? But glad to know what it is now.
Hey Oliver, welcome to Arizona
. We get 100 days worth of what you guys are getting now. I saw that North Carolina is going to have a heat index of 120 degrees today, but that is heat index. We calculate our heat index starting from 120. All kidding aside, stay cool my friend...Mark

I am more used to freezing then sweating.
It was over 95* here and 90% humidity over the weekend.
The family hung out with me in the shop which hovered around 65-68 all weekend as it only has few windows on the north side and is basically a [man] cave. Charlotte painted some watercolors while my girlfriend read a book or played with her silly I-phone crushing candy or something...
The dogs laid out on the cool concrete and I got to mess around with my '89 RC.
I have no A/C here so I need to plan for the hot spells and open up the few windows at night to trap the cool in to get through the heat. Once warm or cold the 40 yards of concrete or so, and TONS and TONS of Mopar metal in the shop take a while to change temp..

Got the new truck bed, bumper, and correct hitch installed today. Old hitch was really short for some reason. Also got alot packed, and a new job figured out. We are now moving back north to Iowa now. So long Texas, I will miss your rust free cars and the nicest people in the world.
Thanks Mark!

Thankfully it doesn't get below freezing very often and it's never for long. Even during the "winter" months it's usually never below the 40's overnight and it gets into the 60's during the day.

Lesson learned today: trust my spidey senses.
over the last over the last several years I've replaced my FSS at least three times with these aftermarket eBay fake Bosch units. Every time it's resulted in the same problem where I'm broken down somewhere. Today I was broken down but I was able to get back home because essentially the truck wouldn't shut off.
I drove the for a few days now whereas I had had it sitting for a couple of weeks. Seems as though I have an intense relationship with my vehicle because I kept saying to myself that something wasn't quite right. I kept saying to myself that something feels funny, something sounds funny, something is acting funny. I guess I was right. This is where I am today.
so I called Oliver to see if he had ever experienced this funny feeling funny sounding thing going on that have been plaguing me the last couple of days. We were brainstorming as I was traveling back home and I went to shut the truck off and instead of shutting directly off it Bobble bobble Bobble until finally I had to turn it on and then back off again. He mentioned the fuel shutdown solenoid and I had discussed that I just replaced it about 6 months ago. My truck is pumped turned up a little bit but not terribly. I got the fuel sending unit out and it had failed.
since I don't want since I don't want to spend more money again on a cheapo fake Bosch unit I called Cummins and ordered a new one. You'll have it for me tomorrow. $221 and I'm hoping that this one lasts more than 6 months to a year. Part number 390-3575. Wish me luck

There's been a couple of times where gremlins killed all power to the truck while I'm driving either to work or home from work (65mi trip) and I just kept on trucking.
Also, on a really cold morning, I'll crank the starter for a second or two with the fuel off just to get some oil moving. Makes my oil pressure come up almost instantly.

Getting rid of that plunger and hooking up a pull-cable was probably the best mod I've done.

Believe me, I've thought of it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my shut down lever to operate since I had the unit rebuilt a couple years back. It's either out of adjustment, or they never properly rebuilt the injector pump.
I'd put one on just to have as a safety device back up, but alas, it doesn't operate.
