I went down to Harbor Freight the other day for something else, but when I got there they had these fake ammo boxes for 16 bucks. It turns out that they fit perfectly in the cargo try behind the seat.It is almost as if it all was designed this way. Please forgive me if all you guys already know this an I am the last one to the party ...Mark

I was there yesterday when they had a sidewalk sale...Same can without the markings for $12.00...Mine is velcroed to the package tray floor with first aid supplies in it......Ben
Took Saturday off and lounged around, well cleaned house and carpets then lounged. Sunday on the other hand, I got my rear drums on and torqued, spacers on and torqued, replaced the rear pinion seal, drained/cleaned/resealed/refilled the rear diff and cleaned/cleared the rear diff breather. All that's left of this rear end project is to bleed the rear brakes, slosh diff oil to each end, torque the pinion nut, attache the rear drive line and adjust the parking brake. Always feels like a never end list of stuff to get done.
Might seem like a never ending list...but at least you don't have a $1200 a month truck payment. I need to do my pinion seal as well....what seal did you go with, part number for the kit?
Hoorah,
After adjusting the rear brakes, my pedal is firm and feels great. 3.5 quarts of 80-90 in the rear diff. This was a simple list that took way to long. Ready to enjoy the truck again.

True that! I don't understand how people can afford to pay that kind of payment... Heck that is a mortgage payment. I got a National 9316 from the local auto parts store, $16 US. Ask them for a ready sleeve too (sorry don't have the part number handy for it, but it is a pretty common piece and about the same cost. Better to have it on hand when you pull the seal then have to make a second run to the store. if you don't use it, you can take it back later.
Drove up to Columbus IN last night with dad for the TDR Rally. Truck did fine. Going to tour the Cummins plant today. Only seen one other 1st Gen here so far and Schwarzli’s crew cab dually conversion but it is just getting started.
Got to drive a 2019 Limited 4X4. Drives like a car and sounds like one too, well, one with 400hp and 1,000lbs of torque anyway...
Even with the tow/haul, exhaust brake, cameras in the bed, tailgate and mirrors, headlights that turn as you do and all the other dozens of gadgets, doodads and pleasures I was anxious and proud to hop back into mine and drive away from the Cummins plant in a 1st Gen. Out of 210 trucks registered there’s about a dozen or so of us here, only got to talk to one so far and that was Robert with his 1985 crew cab dually conversion. It is amazing with all the details and upgrades.
FCA had four of the 1989 CTD prototypes here, including 001 that was restored in 2013.
If I didn’t have Olivers Disease I’d post pictures.
Topped off the rear diff, adjusted the rear brakes a bit and took it for a test drive last night to make sure the rear axle wasn't going to fall out after all the work I had done to it. ;-) All good.
Drove into work today across one of the roughest paved roads Spokane has to offer at the moment and I am amazed at the ride difference. It doesn't ride like my wife's car, but it is a HECK-OF-ALOT smoother than it was. I dare say it rides better than my dad's '05 1 ton Ram.
For those interested, the "Jim Lane Spring Treatment" cost me about $250 into parts with new bushings/bolts, U-bolts, new shackles, spring tip thingies, paint and flapper disks. Mind you it took me several days spread out over a few weeks to get it done, but that is because of how my life works and I did all the work by myself. If you don't have the money for new springs, this is a very affordable way to restore the suspension to a reasonable ride.

Should be a good Father’s Day weekend!
I didnt realize he had the crew done. That has to easily be one of the most detailed builds ever done, including other types of vehicles.
It looked done but he said it wasn’t complete yet, but then are they ever? They finished wrenching the the night before they came down. He only did a test run to make sure the brakes and everything was working before trailering it here and then been driving it local since. Amazing truck. Well, thats an understatement...
