What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
Today I worked some more on trying to replace the rear output seal on the np205. I say trying, because I took all of the bolts off that hold the housing that the seal sits in off after removing the output yoke and the housing wouldn't come off. I tried hitting it with a rubber mallet, tapping with a small hammer, and then hitting it with a piece of wood with a BFH. None of those worked and it was getting cold and late for doing it in the driveway. So I decided to pack up and call it for the night. I would use a torch to heat it to separate the two, but the transfer case is covered with a thick layer of grease/oil from the transmission that used to leak. I guess I should have had the shop replace the transfer case seals at the same time as the transmission seals.
I would have both a dry chem extinguisher and a garden hose close by. The former in case you set the grease or other petroleum material on fire and the latter for the ordinary combustibles that may catch fire. Sorry guys, you can take the boy out of firefighting, but you can't take the firefighting out of the boy. Also, to quote fireman Bill: "sometimes I think I am just talking to myself" ...Mark AKA fireman Bill
Well, I ended getting it off with a more determined blow with a 2x4 and bfh. I then spent about an hour last night scraping the old gasket off of both surfaces and trying to scrub off the baked on grease and dirt off of the output yoke and small housing with some mean green and a small brush. I got the grease off the slide portion of the output yoke, but the rest is being VERY stubborn. I think I'm just going to make sure the contact surfaces are nice and clean an put it back together. Then I'll go get some foaming engine decreased and go at it with the pressure washer. I need to do the same with my engine bay also.

It was oil service time...330,000+ km's. Trying something different this year. I filled a new oil filter with a litre of fresh oil and changed out the one on the motor. Since I'm running the Rotella T6 5W40 for the winter I thought I would change the oil filter at 5000km's and run the oil until spring.....was -20*C here last night and snowing.

I don't blame you for not wanting to crawl around under your truck in those temps though.
It was almost 90F here in beautiful SoCal of the United Police States of America. Wind straight out of the desert. At least I didn't hear about any wildfires. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter and windier.

I hope they don't know something that I don't [nonono]
So I was running along a back road in Kino and I ran (literally) into this. I think they were waiting for me, but am not sure. I just hope the they don't take the old joke attitude: Patience to heck, I'm gonna' kill something
