I’ve got some insulated boots , but I haven’t used them since last January elk hunting. It rarely gets below 50 for the highs here in southwestern Utah.

I haven’t done anything to it today, but I may have sold my Allison at545 so I’m being optimistic and looking at nv4500 clutches. I’ve been looking at South Bend (I know there will be some Valair defenders), and I’m thinking I’ll probably go with the

13125-OFEK clutch

which is good for 25k pounds. Wow. I’m not sure why those letters are so big. Must be something with the copy and paste.

Some days it will do 70 no problem, but others it struggles to do 70 and seems to never build boost for the longest time.
Pull the cover off of your AFC and see if your guide pin is stuck.

If your above statement is correct, you either have a stuck AFC guide pin or an intermittent fuel supply problem. However, if it were fuel supply, you would likely be blowing grey smoke from retarded timing during the low power periods.

Well, if it makes him happier, why not? Your truck can get you where you need to go, your boots get ya where the truck can’t.

Where under the AFC is the pin? Pictures are the best as I’ve never yet touched the pump. Saving up for gauges currently and then I’ll be into it. Currently I am waiting for free time when the weather permits between school, work, and fire/medical training to fix my rear output seal on my transfer case.

These boots are not insulated. I can't wear insulated boots, cause it makes my feet sweat. Sweaty feet= Al Bundy feet. Wife hates the smells that come out of me now, I Can't put her through that as well.

No. I am a cadet on the volunteer department, but they still let me go on calls and help out with some stuff. We cover a fairly large area for first response medical with our rescue unit and have 3 brush trucks and an old engine from New York. I guess I shouldn’t call the engine old as it isn’t any older than my truck. That thing will pump some SERIOUS water. We’ve had it pump out 2,000 gallons per minute before so you can pump it’s tank dry in 30 seconds as it has a 1000 gallon tank. I will be of age this summer so then I will be able to do more. This fall I’ll go who knows where for a couple years though for church service, so I’ll be out of the fire world for a while. Once I come back I plan to get a bachelors degree in something (probably Just general studies), and then go on to get my Paramedic and Fire1/2 certificates. Then I’ll see where life takes me for a career as a firefighter/Paramedic. The reason I said that it takes up time is I have calls that I respond to from my house any time. I am currently in high school and work a part time job as an arborist apprentice as well. Between those things I sometimes have a very full schedule all week and then just have the weekend sometimes. Sometimes I’m still jam packed going bird hunting with my GSP and my dad. Chukkar Partrige are the only birds around here still in season for another week or so though, so that will be over before too long. Bitter sweet, but then I might have more time to work on the small things on the rig. Sorry for the long answer to a short, simple question, but I’m sure some will read the whole thing anyway.

Like I saw on Blue Bloods last night, "It's not F**ts. It's my squeaky chair!

My bean boots aren't insulated either. I just wear thick socks and it's enough. I have put layers of newspaper in the bottom of my boots and you would be surprised how much it helps.

They are not cheap, usually in the 10-15 dollar range per pair, but worth every penny once you start using them. I wear them year round now.

I had a problem pop up, shortly after buying my rig, that sounds very similar to the one that 1stGEN'93 is describing. The difference is, I had a boost gauge. And I noticed that I had to floor it just to build maybe 5psi. while pulling a lowboy trailer.
I found that the V-band clamp on my turbo had rattled loose. Tightened it up on the side of the road, and it was like Mr. Chekov had fixed the Warp Drives on the Starship FirstGen.
