After I posted that I saw who replied and I thought duh he's got a 5 speed and I figured if yours didn't work you had more trouble than a bad vss

 

not today...but tomorrow...went to leave this morning and the windshield was covered in dew. turned the wipers on and the passenger side worked.....hit two parts stores to get enough bushings to fix them tomorrow.

 

BG, I've got those bushings, at two to a pack. But I've sat on doing that fix for years, and I can't remember anymore how many bushings it takes to completely swap in new ones thru out. Mind throwing out the amount needed?

 

I just hauled some steel parts today for work, nothing special.

 

I'm pretty sure it takes four. the tie rod takes two and then the arm from the motor to the tie rod takes 2 more.

 

will do...couldn't remember if it was four or six.

 

I'm jealous of that beautiful west coast sheetmetal. I like the step side on my '74 Crew, but a sweptline bed would be more practical. Nice truck!

Generally the only,one that goes bad is the one that gets exposed to sunlight. I painted mine after assembly, to minimize ultraviolet light damage.

 

well I fingered as long as I had it apart....and winter on the way...

 

That can't be as bad as Pennsyltucky. New stuff rusts just sniffing the highways here.

 

I have noticed that things deteriorate quicker up North compared to the when I was on the Wet Coast. Just requires a bit more diligence on rust prevention...I love making rainbows and keeping the dust down on the driveway....

Cool idea for the cargo light.....what make and model is that? Did it require an special modifications?
