What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
I did. Yourall's argument that they sealed better under normal conditions, the notion that the zerk which is different sizes and configurations could throw off the balance (even though just a few milligrams) and that greasing from an asymmetrical point may not fill all equally unless purging made me switch.
Got the driveshaft back in tonight but not without a few bumps...
While pressing in the cups I hit a hard spot. I rearranged the joint and sockets and tried again but no movement. No matter how much pressure or what I jiggled it had stopped. Worried a needle had gotten crosswise and was ruined I started to pull it apart and by chance checked my old ancient gigantic vice and it was locked up. I could open it but it wouldn't screw past that spot. Geez, vices are about as simple as you can get but even after taking it apart I cant see what it's hanging up on. Just the sliding jaw itself must weight 25lbs. I think it is a Fost or Fust?
So I went to my next biggest vice and while getting the joint and sockets aligned one of the cups slid off and on to the floor. I had taped the first joint but skipped it this time. What's that old saying, if you have enough time to do it over you had enough time to do it right the first time?
Now I'm fortunate enough to not have a shop with a nice flat concrete floor that has to be swept and all the grease and oil cleaned up all the time. I'm lucky enough to have mine in an old tobacco barn with a genuine dirt floor dampened by several inches of accumulated tobacco dust.
So guess what that cup looks like now. Fortunately I had ordered a spare to throw in my boony bag and used that one instead. Anybody know what grease I need to get to fix the cup on a sealed Spicer u-joint?

She hates him !!!
every morning this cat (his name is Thunder) comes to our front door looking for a free meal. Well, our kitty Punkin freaks out at the door, smacking the glass, growling and carrying on....
(just like the wife used to do when I would come to her house as a young man)

Today, after yesterdays FSS fiasco, I adjusted the fuel screw and low idle and changed out my fuel filter. 6 months or so old, and peeling.
Fuel was clean, otherwise

Drove about an hour south today. Ran like a champ. Stopped for brunch, and headed back home. Parked in driveway nose pointed down hill, and when I went to start it, it was a no go. Played around, and it started, puff of white smoke, but ran fine. Took,it to fuel up, and only 7 gallons in there. Maybe sucked a bit of air. See tomorrow if any blip.
