What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
Water pump blew!
We were driving north through Austin TX and the water pump went out and took the belt with it. Luckily we were near an autozone and they had everything. I always travel with tools so all I needed was the belt tensioner tool. Belt pump and some antifreeze. And we were back on the road. Got the rebuilt trans in San Antonio so getting it swapped on Wednesday.

Finally got around to installing new-used ECM on the 92 CTD ... to my amazement everything worked as it should !!! Only took me something like 2 yrs to find one that was reasonably priced and then another 4 months to hook it up!!
Tipping my hat to you Chip ...
Speedometer, grid heaters, voltage gauge, ... tomorrow on the way to work I'll be able to tell if my problem with OD kicking in/out will be fixed as well... I'm guessing so!
Next on the list ... learn how to do body work on rocker panels, can corners and drivers side floor pan!!!!

Glad you had the parts failure near civilization and were able to get back on the road with minimal effort.
Well my rattling, ticking and clicking noise from my motor came back. It went away after I changed the oil and filter, but after my 1200km round trip it is now as noisy as before.
You can only hear it when sitting in the cab, with the hood up there is too much additional engine noise to try and narrow down where it is coming from. I have tried ear protection, but still too much "other" noise. Tried my stethoscope....again too much noise.
Here are some of the symptoms.
I noticed the noise first started after the long cold winter we had this year. When I first fire it up, and it's cold it's quite loud at idle. But does quiet down once up to temp, and then at idle you can barely hear it. It is most noticeable though when driving. If I am under a bit of power, more then 7lbs boost it seems to go away and everything is quiet, but once I go into "cruise" speed....just enough throttle to maintain my road speed it's very noisy. Deceleration makes no difference, nor does clutch in or out when cruising.
I always run power service fuel additive, and have recently replaced the both fuel filters, the small fram G2 inline filter before my lift pump, and the main fuel filter....no change.
My thoughts to the culprit of the noise are injectors are slowly dying (313K km's), main springs in the IP have broken (couple -35*C extreme cold fire up could have shattered the them), valve lash as changed since my last adjustment a year ago, or the oil pump is not pumping pressure like it should?
Thoughts?

Driving home tonight, my TV cable decided to disconnect itself from the valve lever at the trans. It doesn't want to go back on.
Tomorrow ill try to fixxy...
Anyone ever repaired their tv cable end? Can only assume its NLA

Going to hook up an aftermarket gauge and see what it's showing. Would make sense with the 5W40 synthetic.....thin to start with, then thicken as it warms up.
Will see what the pressures show, then maybe be try some regular 15W40 and a new filter and see if that help things.

Aww shucks guys...

I am sure I can find a cable for you T-man.
Let me know if you can't repair yours.
Tonight I finished installing my front 4 inch gasser Rancho lift springs on Poncho.
I have a little more fine tuning to do but the dinner bell rang, so I had to walk away for it for now. I am also waiting for some lug nuts to finish mounting up the "new" rims.

Well hooked up an aftermarket gauge this evening, where the factory sender is located, cold fire up I had 70lbs oil pressure at 900rpm. Once warmed up it settled out at about 50lbs at idle, about 850rpm. During a 2000+rpm blast I get around 90lbs pressure.
Those number seem pretty good to me. But the noise is still there. If I stick my head down around the throttle pedal inside the cab I get the loudest area for the noise.

You are WAY BEYOND TALENTED, my friend. Driving the truck with your head down by the throttle peddle must be a real chore. Do you use mirrors to see where you're going? Get the wife in the passenger seat as a spotter ? Do you find it difficult to shift during this physical contortion ?
Got to post pictures...

Coming from the bellhousing ? what's it like from under the truck ?
Your Oil pressures are normal from what I have experienced in the past.
Re torqued the U bolts on my new leaf springs which was past due. Centered the steering wheel. The new springs lifted it up quite a bit. Installed a 90° adapter on my speed sensors (there are 2) and made a support bracket to attach it to the side of the transfer case. Much better now.

I have heard that a Lokar 727 cable will work with some new ends.
