Yesterday, I de-salted the undercarriage and body of the brick with Sulfamic acid. All that nasty salt is a gone... Then I washed the body with regular car wash soap. Love it when they look as good as they do.

This weekend I hope to fix a few electrical issues (lights and other stuff), but it's supposed to rain for the next several days.

First tried to get in through my slider window...nope it's a really good set-up on that one! Eventually I Managed to pop one of the vent window locks and get in, but it was pouring rain the whole time....

I'm sure it was a nice warm slow rain though.

Yeah been considering the magnetic key cash.

I parted out a 69 Chrysler 300 years a go and I found 5 sets of keys hidden in the car, 3 magnetic holders, and two sets taped up in the wiring harnesses.

I have been thinking about what you do to help neutralize the salt, and figure I should do the same thing on Patches, where do you get your sulfamic acid?

Home depot tile grout aisle. Pint plastic can, cost about $7.00. I used to do 2 oz per gallon, but found that 1 oz per gallon works just as well. Pump sprayer works good, but the acid crystals clog the tip if not mixed well. I've learned to reblend or smash up the chunks in the can before mixing. Warm or hot water helps too.

My walk behind salt spreader was encrusted in salt and calcium chloride. Stuff melted it right off. Cool to see it at work like that.

Why would you have salt under your truck?

Locked the keys in my '90 at Wally World one winter, with it running. I bought some metal coat hangers while I was in there. I bent one up and popped the lock Grand Theft Auto style. The old guy sitting in the Buick across from me had eyes the size of dinner plates, Ha.

If all else fails and I cannot find my extra key that I carry in each pocket, which means I will have somehow lost my pants,

I have a spare set locked securely away in a Supra lockbox that is secured to the truck.

http://www.suprasystems.com/Products/Pages/SupraC.aspx

The Kidde lockbox is almost identical except a lot cheaper.

Kidde Portable 3-Key Box with Pushbutton Combination Lock, Clay-001404 - The Home Depot

Kidde Permanent 5-Key Box with Pushbutton Combination Lock, ?Clay-001409 - The Home Depot

You could use one of these if you were going to mount it under the truck on a frame rail.

Kidde Auto Permanent Mount Box with Pushbutton Combination Lock, ?Titanium-001324 - The Home Depot

This would be a lot more secure than in a magnetic Hide-A-Key.

Whenever I have a rental truck the first thing I do is secure the second key in the bed in a lockbox incase the first one is lost since they want $250.00 to come and bring you a replacement.

Jim
