I have seen keys zip tied inside the frame rail. Seems like a good way to keep one handy without much effort.

I'm not tellin you guys what I do with my keys, because when I had my 1957 chevy my friend had a 1970 SS Chevelle 396, one night while just sitting around and talking we found out our keys would unlock and start each others cars, from that night on my car was never setting where I left it.

we had alot of fun with that, on the odd night one of us would come out of the movies or a store and the car gone . this is way before cell phones so we would flag down a buddy and have them drive us around and see if we could find it.

we didn't live in a big town so we wasn't worried.

Rotated and polished all the tires, wheels and lug nuts.
Re plumbed the air bags to work off one Schrader valve.
Changed oil yesterday and checked all fluids today.

Driving from San Diego to Las Vegas on Thursday with our toy hauler in tow for a dog show. It's being held at a sports park by the airport so will be staying on the grounds.

Yes, I know this is the 1st Gen section! Unfortunately, this topic in the 2nd Gen section never failed to launch. Sooooooooo - I have done tons of work on my beast over the years without being particularly bragadocious about anything in particular. Yesterday, I drained the trans oil out from the B&D deep aluminum pan and i love that drain plug feature. I dropped the pan, which was remarkably clean inside after two years of heavy towing and daily driving, nothing more than a small amount of friction plate grundge on the magnet. I installed the new trans filter, adjusted the bands, put on the new gasket, tightened everything up and poured in 10 litres of fresh, clean ATF +4. Took off the front wheels, lubed everything up and checked the thickness of the ceramic brake pads - they were still at about 70%. This is the best performance, length of service wise, that I have ever gotten out of front brake pads. Put the front wheels back on and torqued nuts to 140 ft lbs. Lubed up the rails and rollers of the slider fifth wheel hitch as well as the pin that holds the jaw pin capture assembly to the chassis of the hitch.

Lit the beast up this morning and let it idle for a couple of minutes and then took her out for a test drive to check trans engagement and fluid level. I drove until trans fluid temp was steady at 145* F and then stopped at a level grade and checked oil level and also checked the pan for leaks. I put in a 1/2 liter to bring the trans fluid right to full and the pan is dry as a popcorn phart! YAY!

Can you tell that we are getting ready to pull our RV back to our summer living park? I sure hope that the winter weather releases it's grip on Alberta within the next couple of weeks as we are pulling home on the 13th of April

Anyway, for a certified old phart who did all of yesterdays work outside on a gravel driveway, I feel pretty darn good today! Tomorrow I start checking, cleaning and testing all of the truck and trailer electrical connections at the umbilical hook up and the RV brakes!

Cheers Boys and Girls!

Mike

Thanks, we made it before the heavy winds hit. We're here for a dog show and wife followed progress of her friends on Facebook still coming in. One had awning tear off on the highway, another took a rock THRU the windshield and others posted completly blocked visibility from the sand storm. We know of 3 semis that blew over here also on i15.

I was washing the garage floor after stripping off the carpet glue so I hosed the front of the truck off also. Out here is doesn't rain but the dew is full of dirt. I need to finish painting the fenders and the new valance under the grille.
