What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
Good day, Jimbo 486:
Thank you for this information on ZDDP. I was going to purchase a few 4 oz bottles at Summit, but upon checkout they denied me saying that product cannot be sold in the state of California. Silly me.
Guess I'll have to drive to reno myself and get some.

Last couple days, I've been tooling around with my parts I have to put back together to put my steering gear back in, once Chip sends it back to me. Instead of putting old parts in, I bought new hoses to replace the ones I put in back when I did the RRSG install a few years Back.
The hose is "customized" as I decided I wanted to stay "metric". The hose is the original hose I would walk into any parts store and buy for my 92. This allows me to easily obtain new parts should the need arise. Since the hoses are so cheap, I ordered 3 of them so I could have one or two as spares if I screwed up my "customization" process.
So in the photo below, you see 4 hoses.
Top one is the one that was on the truck.
Second one down is the OEM hose as it comes from the store.
3rd one down is my "first attempt" at customization and I slightly kinked the steel tube on the part I need to alter to fit my gear.
4th one down is the "second attempt" which i consider successful, as I took a slower bending pace to it, and made a much more gradual bend, while not kinking the tube.
Will the first attempted one fit ? Sure. The pressure might be restricted a bit, so I'll keep that one in the truck as a backup. I'll use the 4th one when I put everything back together..
BTW, want to talk "Quality control " ? or lack, thereof ?
Both hoses are just out the the package. Look at the difference in offset for the bend. Well, I think one of those might be too long to install, as it looks like it might hit the frame behind the gear. Oh well, good thing I ordered extras...

Last few days I've cleaned the leaves and sand out of my HVAC box.
Simply taped the cover back together with AC foil tape for now.
At the vents the air feel much colder than before!
Also did a quick tint job on all 10 windows, 6 on the sides and the 4 that make up the rear slider. After a while if I still like it I'll have a shop do it for real.
It stays much cooler inside so I'm sure I'll end up at a local tint shop like this weekend. Lol

This was going to be a one day project, but I ran into some surprises along the way. It started out just as a steering shaft replacement ended up being the following:
-Replaced cracked steering gear to frame plate (bought from deerecountry)
-Had cracks in frame around the forward most steering plate mounting hole welded up.
-Installed Redhead steering box.
-Installed upper king pin bushing kits.
-Installed rebuild kit in the OEM Warn locking hubs.
-Installed Borgeson steering shaft and rag joint.
-Bought some OEM steel wheels off Craigslist and painted them red.
-Put on Cooper Discoverer ST-Maxx 255/85-16R tires on the OEM steel wheels.
-Replaced the shocks absorbers.
-Installed door hinge pin kits in both doors.
*Starting to collect the necessary parts for doing a RRSG upgrade.

Sure so. I actually own 2 tubing benders. One professional version from the early 1980s. And a cheapo harbor freight one too, both will put a kink in the tubing of not careful.
Yes sand works great, I use sandblasting sand that way it's pure and clean.
Also for anyone looking for a tubing bender, most hardware stores sell them in the plumbing aisle cheap. They look identical to my Eastwood bender
