My guess is it's just old headlights. Couple of them were OEM from 1993!
I am looking at hr hella H4 conversion. The price on the LEDs is still tooooo high for me.

They seem like a good idea. That isn't a bad price either.
My priority is my front axle right now so maybe later.

My priority right now is to pay my mortgage, and scrape enough $$ together to put food on the table, so I completely understand....

BTW,

I hope your wife is feeling better.

not sure they would fly with you living in the auto-**** state of CA, but i run the hella e-code housings with silverstar H4 bulbs and i honestly wouldn't recommend anything else. the light pattern is great and they're really bright. especially with the high/low beam diode.

I would have to check the wattage. I am pretty sure that is what they go by. They used to have a pretty low requirement for low beam on motorcycles.

Oh, don't worry, the Mrs. Is keeping me busy...remember that home operations manual? Just the step by step to change 3 return air filters in the HVAC system took 4 pages! Sometimes, I think there is a behind the scenes "plan"... why else would a wife want a "how to" manual for the house??!! That would eliminate the need of me!!

they're not DOT approved. not even sure they're legal here, luckily they don't give a hoot here in FL

Being a commercial truck driver I have spoken to the DOT/CVSE guys a few times, they have noticed the problem with these "over bright" lights. They have been starting to crack down on these "aftermarket" lights, housings and lenses.

I have extremely good night vision...so I will stick with my old sealed beams.....

I know the E codes from Hella, Bosch and Cibie with 55/60 watt bulbs are street legal all over Canada and some US states. The Trucklites are DOT/SAE certified so no worries there.

whats unfortunate is that the E-codes are not DOT approved. they have a far better light pattern than the dot/sae housings. the cut off is really nice and not blinding what so ever. i set them up by having someone in a passenger car drive towards me to ensure that the cut-off was below "oh my god!" level, lol.

what needs to be banished is the cheap "HID" housings that just throw light all over the place and blind you from a mile away. even most of those are dot approved. junk.
