if the front seal is out, put it back in and get a big flat washer that`s the same out side diameter as the seal boss on the pump. drill 2 holes in the washer, and drill and tap holes (#8 or #10) in the seal boss to match the washer. bolt the washer to the boss with lock washers and blue loc-tite. just be sure to NOT drill all the way through the boss. there`s plenty of metal to drill 1/4 or 5/16 deep. then the seal will NEVER pop out again. there`s plenty of room behind the pump gear for the bolt heads and washer. I have done this to both of my VE pumps, for my piece of mind, when I put on piston lift pumps with 18 LB. springs in them.
You need to do a write up on that with pix..... Otherwise, I'm sending Papecat over to your house to light up a paper bag of dog doo on your front porch.....

Seems like he used 3/4" thin wall tube. I know there was some cutting but I don't remember just how much.
A straight edge and a good ruler would tell.

and yes, I did the mod when he posted it originally. He was a decent fella, but didn't like being goofed on. Thin skin, took it personally and never saw him again (or should I say read him again). Been a few like that here.....but then life goes on...
Great mod.
Flush with the door panel. I used 1/2" square tube, and it worked great. makes a HUGE difference in the feel of the door. Worth the time to do...

That guy. Was brilliant in some of theworkhe did. Too bad he didn't have the ability to take any criticism about anything or field off ( all in jest ) goofy jokes at his expense. I guess brilliance and bunched up pink panties make for a toxic combination.
