I saw in the sticky your pic on the clear one that you put on. Has it faded over time, or get that old plastic look? Want to go with the clear, but hate the look of faded plastic. As soon as I hear back from you I'll order one thru Amazon.... Don't be Baggin' on me T Man!! LOL
I thought about a clear one for a minute...then thought better of it. I like the nice clean look of the black plate on the black HVAC box. And the removal of the plug is so simple that I can't see any benefit of running a clear cap.

But then you can't see the mice in your vent..... what good is that ?
Well, I finished the brick, and it's back at home safe and sound.
I kept and used the flexplate from PRW, and I'm very happy I did.
When I took the old POC out I was FLOORED that the original one was so thin. I mean.... THIN!! If you put it up against Twiggy, it would have made her look fat. What a Joke..
Anyway, Minimal scuffing done on the flywheel housing (that's what Dodge calls the Engine Adapter to Trans plate). Glad it wasn't toast as I would have had to get in touch with Oliver to get a new one shipped ASAP. The original flywheel housing had a broken bolt in it where the exhaust hanger was, and one bolt missing up at the top of the trans on the passenger side. I guess when the trans was rebuilt the just didn't feel like putting it in.
So, drilled out the bolt, installed new bolt, cleaned everything up, installed the new PRW flexplate (which is at least twice the thickness of the original one... which means it will never fail with me using it), and put it back together with some new odds and ends such as dodge flywheel and torque converter bolts, some new bolts on the cross member, new shift linkage bushings, and coated just about anything that had any rust on it with neverseize. Painted stuff in the past, but it just all flakes off again...
T-man.
I bought my flex plate used, so the PO probably cleaned up the burred holes etc. which really don't make much difference in the scheme of things. What's important is accuracy in dimensions, and of course enough meat to stand up to the 5.9 CTD. For the price, I think this is a pretty good plate.
You still had 3 or 4 miles left in that one. This is what DW did to mine.

Thats crazy..
I cleaned up the burrs before install. The plate fit perfect. It had the proper spacing as required, so all went well
Thanks again for the tip on prw, btw... Most appreciated
Glad you got it all finished up and back on the road T-man. And great that you got it all done before the holidays! Nice not having that big repair hanging over your head.
So did you use your wifes, co-workers, husbands shop to do the repair?

Actually not, and I'm relieved I didn't.
The shop is too clean. I would have had minimal tools. No one to help.
I used a new "buddy" of mine who offered. He's the owner of a big rig diesel shop and when he offered, I couldn't refuse. Fully stocked shop, dirty and grimey (perfect for the HUGE mess I made dropping the fluid out all over the floor), and he stocked so many parts that came into play, it was the best thing that ever could have happened.
I busted my ****, freaked out due to frustration a few times, lost a few pounds, discovered aches in my body I never had before, but overall... a good experience.

The thing that bothers me most is that he refused to take any payment from me, even though I used at least $25 of his supplies. Yeah, I bought him lunch, and breakfast, but he bought coffee a few times as well. No worries, though. I'll be sure to get myself back up to his shop and do a bunch of needed repairs to the building as soon as the weather comes out of winter... if we actually ever see winter, that is...
Hey, T, a gift card out to a fancy restaurant that him and his wife can go to goes a long way in a thank you. Man, just when I was ready to give up on society, there's folks like him still around(and all of you guys on here at DTR I might add)
Now, Thrashin', I want you to look at how you asked T the question on whose shop did he finally use... His husband's???!!! Whoa! I can tell T is tired, for not catching that one, LOL!
