Lowering a '04 2500 2WD?

I know lifting a truck is the thing to do these days, but I want to lower mine about 1 1/2-2" front and back. I just bought a very nice Black '04 2wd QC 6 1/2 foot bed "Orange County Choppers" truck that has 20" wheels on it. It came with 34" tall tires that I replaced with 30" tires. The tires the truck came with rubbed on the inner fenders and ripped the front air dam off. With the 30" tires there is too much fender well clearance for my taste. I saw some spacers between the axle and spring pack that will give me about 1" on the rear , but what if anything has anybody done to the front? I know theres stuff available for 1/2 tons, but has anybody successfully lowered a 3/4 ton? Thanks

welcome to the club...I've been wanting to drop mine for awhile but haven't come across much on dropping the front. I've done the rear blocks and it helped the stance out i think quite a bit.

Not a lot you can do in lowering these trucks. For the front cutting the springs and snubbers. The rear removing the spacer blocks if it hasn't been done already. Also think there's lowering shackles available.

Cool I would NOT advise it..........

I have lowered a few chevy 3500s and other vehicles. I lowered my 06 mega 2500 2wd, and it was a nightmare. First, if you try to cut the springs they are already short and VERY stiff because the trucks are heavy. So, you can lower it that way, but then you have bump steer issues and you may not be able to get it in alignment specs. I bought a 3 inch set of lowering control arms from AIM. Their stuff is JUNK. We got my truck all apart and ready to put the control arms in and found out the bushings they used were toast. After machining brass bushings for the control arms we installed them and it did lower the truck the 3 inches. However, the geometry was so far off you would have to buy adjustable upper control arms to be able to get the truck back in alignment. (not to mention the problems with bump-steer because the steering rack is out of alignment) Dodges are very sensitive to height changes/changes from the stock geometry. Dropping the rear is ez and straight forward. Messing eith the front is really going to get expensive and not worth the time if you are not a pro. You will be much better off playing with the wheel/tire combo to get the look you want without messing with the front suspension. Caveat emptor, Scott

Have you considered an air ride front suspension setup.

The most common thing you can do is add the 2.5" daystar kit in the front, flip the blockpacks on the leafsprings from above the leaf to below thw leaf, or eliminate them. You could also eliminate one of the leafs. As far as lowering goes, it is not cost-effective. That has to be totally custom. Leveling the truck is much more easy, and I suggest it because its much cheaper.

You get the same thing everytime. Noone has really dropped one short of full on bagging. A fresh perspective is alway nice, hence the new threads.
