Mine has been in single digits and still was not cold enough. I think you will have to be around zero outside and the truck sitting longer than 8 hours.

Once enabled, idle speed will slowly ramp up from 800 rpm to 1200 rpm when all of the following conditions are met:

1. Intake Manifold Temperature less than 0°C (32°F) and,
2. Coolant Temp is less than 60°C (140°F) and,
3. The Transmission is in Neutral or Park and,
4. The Service Brake pedal is not depressed and,
5. Throttle = 0% and,
6. Vehicle Speed = 0 mph

Additionally, if Intake Manifold Temperature (IMT) is less than -9°C (15°F), and all of the parameters above are met, three of the cylinders will be shut off upon reaching 1200 rpm, creating a slight change in engine sound which is normal. This allows the engine to create increased heat in the cooling system, allowing more rapid engine warm up and cab heating.

Both features will automatically disable when one of the following occurs:

1. The Automatic Transmission is placed in gear (forward or reverse) or,
2. The Service Brake pedal is depressed or,
3. Throttle position is greater than 0% or,
4. Vehicle Speed is greater than 0 mph or,
5. Coolant Temperature is greater than 79°C (175°F).

So I went back too the dealer and it is in fact turned on but not working. Things I have done tonight too see is I turned the exhaust brake off so it cant come on in the morning. Now the question is how many of you guys with working high idles have the timbo apps? Reason I ask is I do and I am wondering if it has something too do with why the high idle is not kicking on. Temps been in the 20s sat all night not plugged in no truck is in N and the park brake is set.

As you know, my truck has the Timbo APPS, and my high idle works fine.

sooooo, next step.

Is your apps returning to 0, which is idle validation? might want to check that.

The neutral safety switch has nothing to do with the whole program.

Park brake also has nothing to do with the equation. Mine will ramp with or without the brake on. Mine will also idle up with the exhaust brake in the on position.

I would look into the apps idle validation. It sounds like you might have it idling fine, but standing just enough off of 0, to take away the idle validation signal to the ECM

i can drive mine untill i reach a certain speed, maybe 3 mph then it will kick off
so the neutral switch is out of the picture.....
when i tap the throttle it will kick it out also.

evidently the high idle WILL work even having the block heater plugged in , it all depends on the ambient temp's.
if it's below 15 the high idle will kick in with an engine that's warm during an extended idle

for about $26 dollars and trip to radio shack and a little time you can do what i did, use a relay and potentimeter and tapp in to your apps sensor and have high idle whenever you want with the flip of a switch. i can adjust what i want it to idle at, which i have it set on 1250....anytime i flip the switch in the dash it idles right up to 1250 untill i turn it back off...
