Question Which flash version (TSB) is the high idle in?

Anyone have the TSB number for this feature?

This feature is the one where you can increase the idle (in PARK only) by pressing the cruise control buttons.

It's allows you to crank up the idle RPMs so it can idle for extended periods without any adverse effects. (not good to low RPM idle for very long).

I'm taking the truck in tomorrow AM for an oil change and would like to get this done.

Thanks alot,

DT.

What truck do you have? If you have had TSB 18-037-04 I know it is in that one. I had it done the other day.

2004.5 CTD Quad cab.

That's great. That's the one I was planning to have flashed because of the better mileage.

Funny, I printed out that specific TSB bulletin and it doesn't mention anything about the idle control feature.

Thanks alot for the response.

DT.

It is in there but you must tell them to enable it after they do the reflash. It is not done automatically they must go back in and enable it...there are directions printed here somewhere under high idle. I suggest you copy them and bring them with you. or call the dealer and see if they have done them before. Mine had no clue but I had the directions printed out and they were happy to do it....

If you read 004-04, you will see that it applies to the '04 trucks. Calls out both an engine number and a made before December 10, 2003. Some have posted that this TSB does work on the '04.5s. All I know is what's written in it.

Does anyone know if this feature will work with a 6-speed? I know that the TSB specifes an auto, but does that mean it is impossible to activate it on a manual trans or just not recommended?

I went to the dealership today... and they said that it could only be done if it feel within a certain number of the build. Evidently the cutoff is 1.3 and I'm at 1.5. Don't know which numbers he was looking at so it's hard to tell... but oh well, it doesn't get all that cold here.

If you had TSB 18-037-04 the software is there and all they have to do is enable it....05's have it too, just needs to be enabled..It won't be covered under TSB if after I think 12/03, you will have to pay to have it done. It takes less than 3 minutes for them to do.
I ended up paying 18 dollars to have that and the pinion factor changed. It took 9 minutes for them to punch in walk out to the back where my truck was, hook up scanner, do both programs and walk back to punch out on the job. Watch them do it because this guy had never done either and I read directions for him. A dealership may tell you it took an hour or so, definitely not the case..

I've got the TSB already done... so it's already there? Is it just a simple thing to enable it then or do they have to plug in and go through all the steps again?

Yes it is there.....Plug in scanner, go under "engine" then "misc" then "high idle enable" enable it and get out...takes 3 minutes to do !!!! there is a thread under how to enable high idle 3rd gen ram and drivetrain. also on the other site you frequent do a search because recently there was a step by step instruction that I printed out for the guy at dealership.

good luck.....

Well, maybe I'll have to make a stop over at my local dealership and hopefully they can get it done there. Thanks
