Question Cruise control weirdness...

Everything is fine when I "SET" my cc and driving along is ok, it's when I go to cancel it or disable the cruise control that the weirdness happens. My brake pedal doesn't shut it off and I have
to hit the cancel button on the right side of the steering wheel a bunch of times, then it shuts off. Anyone seen this?

Probably a brake light switch. You could have it scanned and check the inputs to see for sure....or spend the 15 bucks on a new switch. Pay close attention to how the switch is installed though. You have to install the switch and THEN flip the little lever on it.

Check you clutch cancel?

From what I found on this matter is if you tail lights work so should the brake cancel...

I've found that sometimes the brake must be applied a little heavy on mine to cancel. If using the clutch to cancel you got to apply completely to the floor to cancel.

Believe it or not.... But I can activate the brake lights on my truck and have the CC still going and start to drag the brakes... Still it won't cancel... But if you push down like to stop suddenly it cancels every time...

A friend of mine had the same problem several months ago. He just quit using the cruise control all together. About a month ago his truck burned up in his driveway while he had the ignition in the accessory position listening to the radio. The sherrif and the insurance adjustor both said that there have been previous reports of trucks around the 99 year model that have burned. And one of the symptoms was the cruise control acting up, along with fuses mysteriously blowing in the interior fuse panel. They cause is believed to be the parking brake mechanics rubbing on a wiring harness near the back of the fuse panel or something like that. Don't want to scare you, but it made me crawl under my dash and have a look around. I didn't find anything rubbing on my 01. I did a little research on the net but didn't find any other circumstances where this has happened to anyone else. Seems like Dodge would have put out a safety recall if this were true. Urband Legend?? I don't know, but better safe than sorry.

Wiring looks clear of potential shorting spots. I did fix a leak in
my vacuum system and now everything seems to work OK but I'll be keeping my eye on it. Thanks all...
