Rail Pressure Weirdness?

I have only had my Di Pricol RP gauge in for about a month, & I'm seeing some weird fluctuations.
Once it said my RP was @ 3K @ idle. I know that it was wrong. Turned it off, & started it up again, & it read 6.5K again as it usually does.
Now a couple days ago I romped it pretty hard, & watched my RP hover @ 21.5K for a little bit, & then it went up to 25K. But when I was done, it said it was @ 9K @ idle. It also read higher than normal @ cruse too. Keyed off, & re started, & it was back to normal.
Is this normal for one of these gauges, or is mine defective?

Does you have a modded FCA in your CP3?

I have had this problem since I got a modded pump.Nothing has fixxed it.I have moved the groung, the 12v power source, added the inline rf filter and finally got a new gauge. It still does everything you listed and then some.I spent a month in direct contact with the guy who designed the gauge for Di Pricol and tried everything he told me with no luck. The only good thing to come out of this is the owners(Di Pricol) daughter recently moved near me and she had to meet me to give me the new gauge and man was she ever a looker.I think she's here for the NASCAR scene.

Mine does the exact same thing, I have to turn the key off to reset it. My pump is not modded either, sure is annoying.

OK. Mine is still stock. Sounds like it's a problem with the gauge then. At least now I know it isn't just me. Does make it hard to trust it when doing testing. At least I had my friend @ the dealer go for a ride with me to check my RP before the gauge showed up, & I was able to hold 24K @ WFO with TNT RP-2. Maybe I'll try RP-3, & see if I can hold it.

Mine does the same thing, mostly just the messed up idle reading thou... Bone stock fuel system. Eric at Pricol is sending me the in-line filter to check and see if that works...

Mine is more likely to mess up when the mp-8 gets dialed in to the mix and also its more frequent since I have been running the TNT/R.I have just got use to it.If you recrank the truck a couple times after its messed up it seems to work good then.I think I'm just gonna put a switch on the ground wire so I can reset it without having to turn the truck off.

How did you get a hold of them? I've been trying to call for 2 days, & nothing but busy signal. I E Mailed them too, & no reply.

I called the 1-800 # on the website. If your gauge is newer there really is nothing they can do.The inline rf filter was for the older gauges, the newer have it built in internally.Like mentioned earlier,I was talking with the design engineer and went through a month of do this and do that and call back and report in with no luck.A couple of the basic things I was told to check

1. make sure the 12v power wire is tapped independently from any other gauge, preferably on the 12v wire to the cigarette lighter.
2.good clean ground
3. all connectors are clean and absolutely no dielectric grease on them.

I spoke to her several times, very nice & easy to talk with.
Now that I know she's all that, I will probably be having more gauge problems. LOL.
On a realistic note, My rail gauge hasn't craped out lately. But has been an on going battle.

Interesting.. I spoke to Doug as well and I have a new gauge and he wants me to try a filter, and if that doesn't work he wants to try a new gauge, and I don't seem to have as severe an issue as other. He also knows that all my gauges pull power from the same wire (and I'm not sure what one.. dealership installed 1st gauge) and he said that was fine, as long as it pulled power from the cab, not the engine bay..(I will say that on previous rigs power pulled from the cigarette lighter had tons on interference when used with a CB, and stuff was using the lighter for power (cell phone, etc).. so I would think you don't want to use that one.)

I still haven't been able to get anyone to answer the phone there. Always a busy signal.
I'm pulling power from the fuse box under the hood. All my gauges are, & the fog light relay & everything is off the fuse box.

You may want to try changing where it pulls power.. I was told to not use the fuse box, it causes interference.
