What did you do to your Gen 1 today?

I am considering a set of wheels like yours but wasent sure how they would look on a first gen.
Has anybody tried a dorman aftermarket gasket?

New brake disc's and pads in the front. Did new drums and wheel cylinders and 3" shoes in the rear. Got a soft pedal but better braking. Need to bleed air out some more. Can't forget the new bearings front and rear... lol
Drove to town to pick up a garage sale item for my wife. Noticed a lot of rattling like something was falling off the front end. Then on the way home noticed a grinding noise in the front end that quit when I applied the brakes.
Pulled the left wheel off and found that both caliper hold downs had broken off. Caliper had escaped it's moorings. Put on a couple of clips from the junk drawer. Made a mental note to replace caliper hardware with every pad change from now on.
BTW, the pedal drop I have been noticing, thinking the new MC was going to pot, apparently was caused by the floppy caliper. Brakes work fine now.
As long as I was all muddy from working on it, I changed the oil and filter and replaced the undersized front tires with some correct sized ones I had bought earlier. Now I have to scrape up enough gumption to replace the undersized, bald and leaky back tires with the mud and snow tires I bought. I'll make a project out of it and check the back brakes while I'm at it.

The lid was leaking, so I swapped the old "made in the USA" gasket from an older spare unit I had around.....leak stopped. I had not seen that Dorman gasket...wonder if it would be better then the one that comes with the new unit.
Did some work on the truck from AZ: Finished up the Flo Pro exhaust install, and replaced the hose for the left caliper that burst while I was bleeding the steering/hydroboost.
The Flo Pro exhaust kit is great! I don't like the angle at which the tail pipe exits, but I think this is the highest quality system I have installed on a first gen. The pipes fit, the hangers fit the stock locations, and the two-piece pipe over the rear axle is a nice touch, IMO. I also like that they include band clamps in the kit instead of the usual el-cheapo u-bolt exhaust clamps.
Oh -- I also adjusted the parking brake cables. 230k & I think they are the originals. You wouldn't see that on a truck from up here!

Thanks for the review on the Flo-Pro exhaust system, I need to do one on the crewcab this year....still using OEM pieces from several different trucks. It works, but a new 4" system would be nice. Do you have a pic of the angle the tailpipe exits?
On those Napa master cylinders, which I assume are raybestos models, check the lids on some of these. Some have a more steeper angle which is the angle that the harness clip slides over and snaps into place. Those are the good ones cause the spring clip is tighter onto the lid. Others I've seen have less of a slope which has more play when the clip snaps on. One can still move the lid side to side with the retaining clip on! The older master cylinder tops have the steeper slope. I've swapped out 3 master cylinders in the last 4 years, 2 of them in the last month! I keep my original top on every one and give the new top back to Napa along with the used MC
