Decided to start tackling the roof rust on my Regular Cab, So far day two have the old roof cut off and half way through drilling the spot welds on the donor roof. Was surprised to find the inner roof was painted/primed on my 91.5 from the factory, still wasn't enough to keep the rust away though. I suspect it was trapped condensation in the roof that caused it to rot away from the inside out which is typical of these trucks from my experience. More so cabs without cab lights I find.

I finally got the oil and filter changed. First one since moving from SoCal. Stupid drain pan wasn't working right so wound up with about 3/4 gallon of dirty oil all over the garage floor. Oh well. Gave me a chance to practice my floor dry skills. Got a few more things to do on it. Right now it's sitting out in the hopes that the rain will wash some of the accumulated dirt off. Yeah. I'm lazy.

I plugged the line to the watergate to the HX35 on Vern's old W250.
I want to see what it does to the 25 max PSI it hits currently. I also want to see if it clears up the WOT haze at 20-25PSI with a bit more air. I would be fine with 30, maybe a bit more.
I did not get a chance to take it for a drive yet. I have a couple hour drive to take with it tomorrow. It will have almost 1000# in the bed too.

I had my 800# quad loaded up plus some gear and a cooler.. It was my B-day and the ATV trails just opened for the year. The girlfriend and I hit the trails near NH for a couple of hours.
The Wastegate being unhooked made the truck run better. The boost hit higher boost #. I would see 30# under heavy throttle when accelerating in 3rd or 4th. If you just floored it to WOT, it would build 35# maybe a bit more. I doubt the way I drive I will see 35# very often.
I did not see black smoke coming out of the tail pipe at low boost when you throttled up. I did not see any heavy haze under WOT now that is it closer to 30PSI either.
The stiffer AFC spring helped the low PSI smoke all but disappear.
The added air and extra PSI from the turbo completely cured the higher PSI hazing.
The waste gate line that was hooked up before had a small opening in the brass elbow that was hooked to the turbo elbow. This restricted the airflow enough that I would see 25 PSI for a brief second, but it would fall back to 20 PSI which is the OEM wastegate setting. This meant that at WOT it fell to 20 PSI very quickly which would explain the haze.
That was worth it for me. As it was just a couple of hours of fiddling around and a $20 AFC spring.
