kdp?
kdp?
i've been doing a lot of reading up on it and was wondering if you have to do it to the 1st gens? im assuming you do but a lot of the guys who ask on the DTR site have 2nd gens TIA david
Yes you will have to do it to your first gen. The best way is to pull the front cover and make your own tab for the KDP. That way you can also do the 5 internal bolts holding the front cover to the block - one of which will hold the tab in place. Four bolts can be done by removing them, cleaning, locktiting and reinstalling them. The 5th is behind the PS/Vacuum pump drive gear. You will need to custom bend a wrench to loosen this one - it will not come all of the way out without removing the drive gear. Loosen it up as far as you can then clean it and use the weaping locktite.

I've seen the damage one of these bolts can do - cam broken into 3 pieces - 6 bent push rods. Luckily that was all the damage to the engine - could have grenaded the engine.

alright thanks for the info. i should do it soon theres 234k miles on the truck. im not sure if the previous 2 owners had it done. something i should look into. thanks for the help
Lotite 209 aka Green. It wicks into threads. Cool stuff - you can dab it on exposed threads of an already tight fastener and it will wick into the connection to lock it up.
