finished the intake and the new turbo on today. going to fix the transmission lines, install the kickdown cable, secure the exhaust and i should be good to drive it again.

 

Nice looking Intake horn. Is that a THD unit, or something else?

I personally prefer the factory air box which pulls cool air from outside the engine bay over the slide on cone filter options, that are pulling the hottest air in the engine bay from next to that hot exhaust manifold.

 

im honestly not sure what it is off of. i bought it on ebay and the seller said it was off of a cummins, but the bolt holes were to far apart to fit the manifold. i needed some more clearance on the hood with it anyways, so i cut the old flange off and welded a new one on with it lowered as far as i could get it, then i painted it up. i would like to get the filter away from the turbo a bit, if for nothing more than keeping road spray off of it.

 

We'll be living in it for about 6-8 months in Tustin, CA. Then we're off to the new place in Commerce, OK. After that we're all over the place.

Will probably do the majority of big city stuff in Joplin. It's a nice town and spent a lot of time there in my younger days. Even had a job there from time to time. I'll have to look up the Chrome Shop Mafia and see what they have.

made a new clip to hold the kickdown cable on the transmission. used a steel 223 casing to do it, and its good and solid on there! slowly getting there.

 

Was near the thrift store today so as always had to run in and see what treasures they might have. Well today was a very good day...





Millers Falls Tools 3/8 electric drill, model 414. Works fine except the trigger is stuck on. Paid $15 Cdn for it!


Now I have not been able to find info on the exact year of manufacture for this drill but did come across a listing for a model 515 and 515C and they were produced around 1928/29/30. I also found a scanned copy of the Millers Falls Tools catalog from 1925 and it does not show any electric drills, so I assume it must have been produced some time between 1926/27?

 

Trevinator - that's a neat trick. I'll have to remember that.

 

1925-1955 it seems. Originally was a ¼" drill, so I'd venture to guess more likely 1930 era at the earliest.

Zip tied the fuse block to the panel it's supposed to be clipped into. Got the headlights working with the new switch. Put the new chrome made in Taiwan headlight bezels. Replaced the front parking/turn signal assemblies with new Taiwan units. I need to go back in and clean them up and hit them with some dielectric grease. Somewhere I have a new tube that I have misplaced. Got some ball end hex keys, and some Torx sockets. Prepping for the governor spring/fuel pin swap. Not doing it until the starvation problem is resolved.

 

That is a handy trick, wonder what caliber I'd need to remake the parking brake cable retainers for inside the drum?

 

7.62x39, or 7.62x51 that's some really soft "steel. "

 

I used baling wire on mine. Lasted until I replaced the cable 12 years later.
