I lived in a small town in northern Kalifornia and It was getting bad there too.
We have been in Tulsa for eight months and it was like taking a step back into the 1970s in a many ways.
It’s the same here in Mountain Home AR. Just with better hunting and fishing. It’s very refreshing. I don’t even want to drive back to get the last load.
Well, I'm not rich, that's why I need to make money.
We hope to sell our house here and use the proceeds to mostly pay for a place in WV. We are able to claim our SS next Jan for me and Feb for the little woman. Hopefully it will be enough for us but I still need some beer and truck money.
Technically it was used. There is a man on here named Oliver Foster that from what I understand has an "old Dodge Farm" you can probably ask him if he has any.
I don't miss the rat race and people down on the coast in the big city....I get stressed out now when I go down there for any reason....too many people and just the type of people there as well.
The cost of the property and housing up North is way cheaper, we would have had to pay close to 4 million to get 5 acres down on the coast!! But there are increased costs with living 25 min outside of town, mainly fuel but still well worth it.
For us food ended up being close to the same but utilities are about a quarter as much. We are searching for lower prices on groceries.
The heat and humidity is the main thing my wife objects to. I see it's 91 in Tulsa as I write this. How do you like the weather compared to what you had in commiefornia?

It doesn't bother me as much as I expected. t does get pretty humid after the thunder storms but it doesn't seem to get to me any more than people that lived here all their lives.

Love the weather up North....beautiful sunny day yesterday with clear blue skies and a nice breeze. Had a high of about 15*C and then it actually cooled down to -2*C last night! Even on the hottest days it always cool down at night....so a few windows left open and a couple fans and the house cools down nicely.

It may be nice in the summertime but when the snow gets bung hole deep on a tall native american is when I have to take exception.

It is a worthwhile trade off though.
In Arkansas, the humidity gets pretty thick for some people. There are LOTS of bugs, snakes and spiders, and it does occasionally get below 0. I’ll say that the roads are terrible, the people are rude and there are no jobs here..... everyone, look into other states!
On my last trip back to CA. I found a Cummins shop in Springdale AR. Stopped and talked to the guy over there...very nice and knowledgeable. He actually has a Cummins drag truck, so I’m sure he’s competent in doing some of my upgrades, and will steer me in the right direction. I’m going to have him bump the timing on my motor, after I get settled in at the new place. Since I’m not working yet, I can afford a little down time. I’m going to have him do some work for me on the next motor (cam, O-rings, pump mods and compound turbos) when money and time permit. I plan on building a whole fresh turnkey motor, so I can just swap it out on a weekend, rather than having the thing apart waiting for parts to come in. I’m in Tulsa now and had to get my photo opportunity, since I may not get the chance for a long time.
