We currently have some experiments going on in cold country, if it ever gets cold again. We already have it down to 10 degree F. with no signs of freezing. We will see...Mark Edit: One other point, when water freezes, in expands 9%, IIRC, which results in considerable damage to an enclosed system...

They are calling for -10F maybe lower here tomorrow night.
I am pulling Poncho into the heated shop this afternoon, but will continue to do testing with my jug of 100% antifreeze sitting outside.
Last night was 15F / 20F and right now is a beautiful 35F and sunny... What I would call a warm snap..

That is great Oliver, I would take -10 F. as a pretty good test. Anything colder than that is just frosting, or should I say icing ...Mark

I watched the whole video.
I am not going to stop pre filling my oil filters, but... I will share how I filled my last fuel filter as I was worried about getting dirty fuel in the filter as well.

I install my fuel filter on my '95 12V empty, then cracked the 10 MM bleeder on the filter housing. I then primed the lift pump by hand till clean fuel came out the bleeder.
I let it sit for a few minutes to soak in and let any extra air out the bleeder again.
I then primed the LP some more till I heard the OFV allowing fuel back to the tank.

She then fired right up when I turned the key. Fully primed and the fuel was all filtered and clean.
Nice and easy for the win!

It is just above 0F here right now and the 100% jug is still sloshing around like a liquid.
I will update tomorrow morning which should be colder.

Great, we are down to zero F. and no icing, thanks a million, let's hope for some negativity (of temperature). I believe my own eyes, well yours, over a bunch of speculation...Mark

That's exactly the way I do it.

I want to point out to anyone that wants to bring up wind chill as a factor, antifreeze does not feel wind chill, only ambient temperature. It is only animals, like us, that feel colder with the wind. 0 degrees Fahrenheit is 17.7 Centigrade and is very cold. It is well below the 10 degrees Fahrenheit that is the accepted and reported temperature of the freeze point of ethylene glycol , not "antifreeze". I am really beginning to think that the small amount of water, that is apparently added to the EG, may well be the difference. Now for the conspiracy theory, they want your cooling components to corrode out, fail and have to be replaced. It is collusion between the auto makers and the antifreeze guys. Shame on those guys. I want to be the guy that brings down the great antifreeze conspiracy. ...Mark

Great... Start a new thread about it, so it can be flamed on outside this thread.

Btw... You may be right.

And the conspiracy doesn't end with Antifreeze, brake fluid as well.....if you flush out your old brake fluid for fresh brake fluid every couple years your component repairs on your brake system drops to almost zero.

Could be, but if one treats their significant other as an object, would they feel the wind chill? Philosophy makes my head hurt ...Mark

My hiney is so scarred from the antifreeze wars that they can flame on, I won't feel a thing. By the way, the term "not add water to antifreeze" is now copyrighted, trade marked and every other thing that will make me a buck......Mark

Got my fancy new shiny radiator installed today. Its nicely made except whoever welded on the right hold down welded it a 1/2" too high and slightly off center. I guess once I get to Texas I will fab up some hold downs that deal with the issues because the factory ones are not gonna do it.
