We managed to remove it with a hammer and screwdriver without mangling the nut too badly. Then the drum started to fall apart as we tried to remove it. Parts guy said there were a few options for bearings and what not. So I need to track down part numbers so I dont have to payout for more then I need.
Believe it's a 2 9/16, but you need a special rounded edge socket. Mine is item # KD 2437. Most Napa's have them in stock on the back wall.

Go to Rockauto and search up the bearings for your truck....most of the time they have all the bearing measurements so you can confirm them with the bearings in your hand.

Yup, got one last week.

Still fabbing/installing the new rear axle. Got the new 35-spline chromalloy shafts installed, the calipers, and am finishing the install of the stainless steel brake plumbing and PB-cables . . . .

Bc847... looks like real nice clean work ... my rear end needs to be gone through and I'm sure everything from the firewall to the rear break lights needs to be replaced due to age more than anything else!!

I'm sourcing the rear axel nut as well before I tear into the breaks on my piece... I'm looking for a 1/2 drive socket so I don't have to get adapter from 3/4 to 1/2... local Napa only had 3/4 drive in stock and they said that 1/2 drive could not be ordered... fine I know it can ill source it elsewhere

But here is my trouble... they also ordered in rear seals, break shoes, hold down springs , adjuster arms , etc... everything that is inside the drum except the spindle nuts and bearings

I "upgraded" the nylock spindle nuts to the double jamb nuts with the eared retaining ring... Dorman spindle lock nut #05306 ... I got that part number from a thread on here and I think Mr Fusion or NJT man posted them ... maybe not those guys I can't say for sure

Anyways, the dorman nuts came in and I then tried to match them with a socket from Napa but they were all 3/4 drive ... the above mentioned dorman spindle lock nuts are 2-1/2" ... they were measured by the parts guys using calipers (2.487??) and I used a tape measure (2-7/16 heavy) ... I then tried them in 2 different sockets ... they fit the 2-1/2 socket with just little play ... would not fit 2-7/16 ... I didn't try 2-9/16 and Napa didn't have any metric big enough ... I have not pulled the old nyloc nuts off to compare because I don't have a socket!?!?

So my piece is a 92 w250... I ordered for a D60 rear end ... can anyone confirm the above part numbers as correct? If so the double jamb nuts are 2-1/2"

That's correct... my typo ... 60 is the front and 70 is the rear

Can anyone confirm the part numbers I posted as the correct Dorman nuts?

I have come across that Dorman 05306 used by some people. I have also seen people mention that you can use the lock nut set-up the Dana 60 front axle uses.....like this one....

I can not confirm if this will work on the rear axle, but I am under the impression from what I have read that it had the same thread pattern, so should work?

If it does this is the style that I personally would go with.

This will work, as I’ve already converted my rears to these.

Got everything wrapped up yesterday. Ended up doing bearings, seals, and brakes. Going to throw the wheels back on today and find out if I put everything back together right.

Old Dodge, go to amazon, and order the 1/2” Drive POWERBUILT SPINDLE NUT SOCKET, part #648477 for $17.99. That is the correct socket to use on those spindle nuts that TCows posted. If you decide to use those on the rears, that’ll be your one socket that’ll work on both front and rear axles.
It is labeled as a 1 Ton, four inner.

I am positive on this, as I have that tool.

I like that design Auggie, seen them before....Less chance of the socket slipping off the nut. I have the socket with just the 4 prongs sticking off and if I am not careful it will slip out of the nut.

Make sure you get your tint done professionally at a glass shop....the bubbling is generally due to the poor quality of a "due it yourself" kit.
My signature should be showing. I have 3.54 gears according to the metal label on the axel. I am having a shop here in southern Utah do the tint as soon as I get the seals and get them installed.
