Hey T-man,
How did they seal the Linex up to the window gasket, is it under the gasket or up to it?
What does the texture look like?

Does the fluid film help you make ewe's turn?

I assume you mean the front widshield. I asked that the spray guy not shoot over the windshield gasket, so they stopped at the lower front edge of the drip rail. The body line above the rear slider was the separation line for the Line-x

Texture? Like a truck bed that's been color matched..

The Fluid film drives my beagle even more crazy than she already is

Lost 3rd gear in my 1990 during a light tow job, <16k gross, the shifter hit the dash on a 2-3 shift and the Getrag got stuck between gears. Finally got it into 2nd and limped home.

Then, after pulling the Getrag, I found the roll pin that holds the 3rd and 4th gear fork was trying to escape.

Good thing it didn't fall into the mainshaft cluster. The side play is out of spec, so I'll get the trans rebuilt. And replace the rear main in the Cummins while the tranny is out. Old trucks are fun!

My heater core started a small leak on my way home from work. I thought it was the can of WD-40 that was on the passenger floor that morning, but I could smell that sweet green liquid with the heat on and windows down. So, I deleted it. At least until I can afford a whole new AC and heat setup. I don’t see the point in installing a new heater core, only to find out that everything else in the blower box is in the same 45 year old shape. So I’ll wait until parts can be afforded. I’ve got a jacket and it doesn’t get below 30* very often....

if moisture gets beyond the second layer of steel inside the roof.
It is already there. Condensation and capillary action to start with, and then once it gets going, iron oxide is its own catalyst . . . Weren't you going to get a second interior ceiling panel and do the cut-out and removable access thing?

Regardless, I would strongly recommend doing that and getting fluid film or a similar penetrating rust inhibitor inside that assembly so soon as possible.

Sorry, I just feel compelled to appoint myself the "rust Cassandra".

Drove 1100km's yesterday pulling my trailer to go pick up a quad. Been looking for another quad for a few months now but most local stuff is BEAT and over priced. Guy was selling a 96 Big bear 350, original owner and in amazing shape....only issue something internally in the motor/tranny went "ting" and there is metal in the oil. But motor's are easy to fix, and I got it for a great price.

So that will be my winter project...tear down quad, rebuild/fix motor and re-assemble. Should be fun since I have never worked on a quad motor before....love learning new stuff!

I drove over to pick up my BP meds and decided to lube the left side sunvisor. Spent 20 minutes looking for the screw I dropped. Put some 3-in-one on it and screwed it back in. Then worked it back and forth several times to get it to stop squeaking. Noticed the left door hinge was also squeaking but another day. I have to pace myself.

My charging voltage is hovering around 15 volts which seems a bit high but I don't know where to look to fix it. I cleaned my battery posts well but that didn't help. I have a new regulator but I don't think the old one was bad since changing it didn't help things much.

pay particular notice to post #18

another thing to check.... bad ground to the alternator and / or regulator

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/89...ish-volts.html

My money is on bad grounds, or the feed wire is grounding out somewhere. Either way it's still a wiring / ground issue.

Eek!

Lucky indeed. Is that a wear issue, or design issue?

cut down a couple big " 24 inch " oak trees across the creek, put a chain on them and pulled them out in the field for easy cutting and spliting, I am always amazed at how much these old trucks will pull and how easy they do it, I have a few 60-75 hp farm tractors "2wd" and my old truck pulls way more than they can in dry conditions.
