yes! The DMV called it a D250 and I correct them. Then I get home and get on here and make the same mistake.

Not sure why the pin backed out. I am very glad I didn't try to "fix it" in the truck, or try driving very far. I didn't rebuild this Getrag myself, and whoever did, didn't set the preload right, so its a blessing that it broke the way it did, no gears or syncros were damaged. Just a bearing kit and a new roll pin and slap it back in.

Anyone know where to source a pilot bushing, or have a part number?

What...Wait...NO...someone didn't take the time to set the pre-load properly! I bet the failure of most "rebuilt" getrag/NV's etc are from poor rebuild procedures, and the person doing it just wanting to "get it out the door".

I can't pass up the chance to carp about Allstate Gear in San Antonio who sold me a G-360 with loose preload. It rattles in neutral louder than the engine at idle. Since it would probably cost me as much as a rebuild to pull the trans and fix the issue I'm just hoping it will last a few years until I can afford to get a better rebuild somewhere else.

BHD you should look at rebuilding the Getrag yourself. The rebuild manual is available free online. Google search it. If you can't find it I can email you a PDF. I looks pretty basic except for setting the preload which doesn't look too complicated either. At least then you know it's done right.

Sweet truck by the way!

Thanks. I have rebuilt gear boxes in the past, but I just don't have time for this one due to some occupational changes going on. The guy I gave it too is more picky than I am with correctness and doing a job right, I trust him and he knows what he's doing.

This tranny was quiet, shifted smoothly and never gave me one bit of trouble. That is until I lost 3rd due to a roll pin escaping. It held up to 12 years of being used as truck and more often than not overloaded and definitely overpowered.

If green, that would be a lot of weight, well even if dead too I guess. Did you have any weight in the bed or was the pull low enough to provide downward traction?

It was on the other side of a creek, I had 120ft of chain, probably not much down force, when it got to the near bank the trunk dug a ditch like a 16 inch plow would, I can never video the neat stuff because I am always by myself.

It was a dead tree, finished spliting it and hauling it last night, still have the other one to get done.

PS didn't pull them together.

Well, since I grafted 2nd gen suspension onto my truck, I drove my truck to the junkyard to get some parts off of a 96 V10 truck. Just have to make new lower bars and buy the steering/track bar setup from DOR. This was a Dick Cepek kit. I can’t wait to get it under my truck and have it ride nice and smooth. Best part, I got a smokin deal! King 2.5’s... 10” stroke dual shocks for up front and 12” stroke for the rear SCORE!!!!

KEWL!!! Great find! I haven't been to a salvage yard in ages. I'm going to have to start going again.
