Cracked primer don't make the old 1st Gen any less cool....

 

Bingo Thrashing.
I get thumbs up in old Dodges that have miss matched color panels and peeling paint. It doesn't bother me one bit, and some other people seem to be okay with it to.
I am kinda over shiny fresh paint jobs, especially on classic 4x4 trucks. Yeah they are pretty, but being able to use you truck like a truck and not worry about the paint is cool in my book.

 

Same here with Ol' Patches.... I get thumbs up, and people coming to talk to me about it all the time.....wife just shakes her head and wonders what people see in it.

I would rather have a "functional" paint job, rather then a shiny one that your always too worried about. The paint I just did on the roof of the Ramcharger ain't particularly pretty...but it's serviceable and will keep the rust at bay.

 

There used to be a cat on here, years ago, that linex'd his entire truck, outside for sure and maybe even inside. What do you all think of that look? Definitely protected from the elements.

I'm thinking of linexing the cab roof, the gutters, then my rockers. The top half of my truck is black anyway, but I need to see if they can match the gold bottom half.

 

You know how I feel about any product like Linex..... Wouldn't use that stuff on any part of my vehicle. Moisture gets in and under, and can't get back out....rust from the inside out. At least with paint you can see where the damage is, sand down, prime and re-paint easily.

 

When I was under the truck a couple weeks ago I noticed the clear inline G2 fram filter I use between the tank and the lift pump was looking pretty gungy, and there was even some water in it. And that got me wonder when I had replaced the main fuel filter last. I have started writing the mileage and date of the last change on my filters so I took a look.....Dec/2015!

So picked up a set of new filters and replaced them today. Just shy of 40K km's on the main filter, and almost 2 years.....not too bad! I usually do the small G2 Fram filter about every 6 months.

 

Stopped at the Powder coater the other day, and there was a 2017 F150 crew cab short bed that was covered from front to back, every square inch of the truck, other than glass.

Other than the aluminum bed, Rust away, senior ford.

 

Wonder what the costs are to powder coat an entire vehicle!

Well clearly almost 2 years and 40K Km's was tad long between fuel filter changes. Patches sure has a lot more pep in it's step today, building boost quicker and not as much lag when I press on the throttle.

 

Fuel pressure gauge wasn't complaining?

 

Picked up my trans and coolant lines yesterday. Oil cooler and bracket as well. Can't finish reassembly until I get one tube I ordered from eBay relocated. The tube was made by Cummins in the 1990s, and the poor paint job was chipped all over from years of being shuffled around. The bracket was made about the same time as the date code April 12, 1995

 

I only have the gauge under the hood.....but it was fluttering badly the last couple months. The gauge is new to me, so guess that is a sign the filter is plugging up. Now it's pretty much rock steady at 8-9 psi idling.

 

Hopped in Ol' Patches this afternoon to take my youngest daughter to work. I was sitting there waiting for the WTS light to go out and my daughter asked why I had not started the truck. So I pointed out the WTS light, and she leaned over to look at it, then looked at my oil pressure gauge and said "Hey your low on gravy!" I said "What?" She replies "That thing that looks like a gravy boat!"....I nearly couldn't drive I was laughing so hard. Never looked at it that way but it sure does look like a gravy boat.

She knows better but she is a quick little sarcastic brat like me..... I won't be able to ever look at my oil pressure gauge now without thinking of how much gravy I have......
