Last night working on the '91.0 kinda snowballed on me.
I started with lubing the king pins and tie rod ends and I was even planning on pulling the rear cover cleaning things up in the rear axle and re-sealing it up with some fresh oil.
The pulling the ripped up old bench seat to get the the vinyl mat and the wet jut padding out just kinda snow balled on me.
I have surface rust on the drivers floor from the soaked jut padding. The rest of the cab is super solid and rust free as it was from the west coast two years ago.
I will be trying the Evapo- Rust product I heard J_martin mention a week or so ago here next before some primer and paint.

Anyone here used a spray in bed liner shop to do the inside floor boards?
I have a local guy who would squirt it for me pretty reasonably, if I did all the prep work.
I don't want more jut padding to hold moisture on the floor boards.
I am thinking the spray on bed liner with rubber mats on top might work pretty well.

I then have a nice un ripped '90 LE red bench seat to replace the one I just pulled out that was down to chunks for missing foam.

Hey Jimbo,

Did you use a rebuilding guide for all of your "tricks" ? if so, which one, or ones ?

Thanks for the pern. Makes me feel so much better during the day when I get to look at engine pern in the AM.

I have a shirt tail relative that has been spraying the interor of his Jeeps for years. he swears by it. not only keeps moisture at bay but is a good sound deadener.
I know NJT will say we don't have rust here but the jeeps will collect dust in nooks and crannys that get wet during those 30" deep water crossings.

well, the life of having a straight truck lasted 4 months. not sure if I even posted the bed swap here, my build thread is on cf.com. but i had bought a d150 for the rust/dent free body and had spent countless hours shaving all of the trim tabs, filling holes, sanding to bare metal, and priming the bed to swap onto my truck. i then trailered the new bed 1800 miles to south dakota where my father and I swapped it for my old rusted bed. this was in december.

then, this happened. i hate myself and everyone around me. i'm inconsolable. i even said out loud once that i'm going to sell my truck(which was right after i said i was going to back it onto a rock pile and pull the keys). yes, i'm being dramatic, but we all know that these things are a labor of love.

Drilled hole for brake shoe inspection

I did a search on this and didn't come up with anyone doing this. Drilled a hole in backing plate so I didn't have to pull the wheel bearings apart to inspect the brake shoes on my new to me 93 club cab W250.

Get a plastic plug then drill a 3/8 to 7/16 size hole, has to match your plug. Not as good as pulling the drum off, but gives you an idea. Mine looks like it is going to need work soon.

What tricks are you referring to? The only official rebuilding guide I have is a Cummins Shop Manual. Other than that, I frequent the forums over on Competition Diesel. Lots of information shared and even sexier truck/engine ****.

Ugh...That's what terrifies me about actually fixing mine up and making it nice. I have this fear that I'll spend all this time, money, and effort on the truck and some little turd on cell phone is going to run through a light and T bone it.

Sux about the bed. Did someone hit it?

Sometimes I feel like the nicer I make something the more inclined Murphy is smite it.

We need a "that sucks" button.

Sorry to hear about the bed. I hate it when I spend tons of time doing something, only to have it ruined for one reason or another

Hope it's not too much to fix

Finally got around to swapping the injectors. Got a lot of tuning to do. Took a lot longer than I'd planned. Those last two injectors are a bear to get at with the hood on, especially for a fat old man. Dropped one of the banjo bolts, took I while to find its hiding place. Dropped one of the return line seals, took I while to find its hiding place. Cross threaded one of the banjo bolts, stopped as soon as I felt it. Fortunately I have a full set of metric taps and dies and was able to clean up the bolt and injector threads just fine. Finally got it running late last evening. On the way home, I nudged it to pass a slow moving vehicle and the car behind me disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Like I said, I have some tuning to do.

well, atleast it was my fault. was towing my '03 ram 1500 reg cab short bed on my 2 wheel dolly. it was raining, going about 30 mph, car in front of me stopped a bit abruptly. i tapped the brakes, rears locked up, back end swung around, dolly jack knifed, bumper of truck on dolly hit me. not a scratch on the other truck and luckily didn't hit my bumper or taillight. it could've been worse for sure. luckily the car in front of me got a green light as i was spinning out of control and got out of the way in time. I did a full 180* spin in the middle of a 4 lane road, lmao. got out, assessed the damage, and drove home.

i think it's too much to pull out and make straight again. i have a couple options. i've found 2 parts trucks here in florida with good beds and another guy up in NC that has a good drivers bed side. would just have to drill/cut all of the spot welds and weld the new side on.

just need to decide if i want to go through fixing/sanding/priming an entire bed or just one side.
