Ram air
Has anyone here drill/cut/punch out hole/holes in the sheet metal right above the top of the front bumper, directly in front of the plastic intake rectangular tube that feeds the filter with air? I did just that and got pretty good results with a ram air effect. I know everyone is going with the Smokey thing and the BHAF thing, but I was curious why no one has thought of this? There's a lot of you sharp people out there! I still use the stock airbox with the K&N replacement. As far as rainfall goes, you need to cut/drill/punch the hole/holes with a diameter size that would accept a metal electrical knock-out plug found in any electrical supply store. On with rain, off without rain, just a matter of poppin' it off. Mine are 1 1/4" in diameter, 2 of. Just curious. Carmyne

At 70 MPH with your foot off the throttle I get about 7 PSI boost.

It is the one that they use on the ram air systems for the big motorhomes.
I don't know where you live but if you ever get the chance to visit this shop, it is a must...
They really have some awsome toys there.
Jim.

On my truck the entire valence (spelling?) panel is removed. It was that way when I got it. You can see the factory scoop out in the open between the bumper and the grill.

The only downside to mine is because my truck in low and I have hit some pretty deep puddles and I was afraid of injesting the water. I am still working on a rotary valve to select the source.
