I got my 7 way trailer connector mounted and wired up. Got a new trailer brake controller mounted and wired up. Bought a 21 foot 10K car trailer to haul the red crew cab down here from North Carolina. Making a bracket to mount the license plate and light on to the trailer, why it didn't have one I don't know. Then going to get the weight distributing hitch set up. It's been raining here for over a week, not 24/7 but darn close so it's been hard getting anything done outside.

Hoping to leave out Monday for NC but might have to wait until Tuesday. We need to wait on my 85 year old future mother in law to get here from south Florida to watch the dogs for us.

At 4pm I ripped apart my dana 70u because the pinion shaft wiggling up and down a little. I didn't find anything major so I reshimmed the preload and reassembled. Only thing left to do is to fill with lube and reconnect the drive shaft.

Picked up my kingpin rebuild kit from mail cluster box. It will have to wait along side the new Mishimoto radiator until I get the 01 Bleep Cherokee back on the road. Gotta have a backup vehicle in case something goes awry. I'm about ready to get a vehicle with a loan I'm so buried with repairs!

I caution against re-preloading used bearings - it can earn you an unscheduled towtruck ride. Only shim enough to take up the slack.

Charlotte and I worked on the white crew cab yesterday before dinner. We gave it an oil change with a fresh Fleetguard Stratopore filter.
It should be back on the road again today.

I’m just curious on this. Is there something special about the Stratopore filter? I’ve been using Donaldson Blue oil filters on my truck. I have heard that they are very good.

It is a synthetic filter media that filters great with a low restriction due to having several layers.
I order them from Geno's Garage a half dozen at a time as they fit all my 12Vs.
I have been using them for years.

I installed some new gauges in my truck they are Isspro EV1 series egt, boost and fuel pressure. I used the Isspro fuel pressure isolator as well because I really didn't want fuel in the cab, routed everything in some split loom out the back down to the windshield and across to the pillar. I also installed hoods on the gauges to try to cut down on the glare but it really didn't help


I installed the green bulbs so they would match the dash and you know what with those bulbs it's almost as hard to read the gauges as it is the dash at night lol

isolator, fuel one side antifreeze the other, yes it's 100%


can't forget my watch rat, when my Dad was alive he kept this on his gate post, said it kept the burglars away, he never got robbed and since I've had it neither have I lol

The other day I went to Walmart to get some oil for my truck since it is coming up on an oil change before too long. I usually run Delo 400, but they only had 10 quarts of it and these trucks take 12 so I decided to get Mobil Delvac 1300. I’ve heard it is good oil, so hopefully that is true. I still have one Donaldson Blue oil filter sitting around in the package, so I’ll use that until the next go around. They had tons of Rotella, but I don’t believe personally that it is quite as good of an oil. Every diesel mechanic I’ve talked to about it says that it is a good oil, but they like Delo. I’ve also read things on Bob the oil guy about Delo being really good along with the Mobil Delvac.

I got my 30-wt Rotella from my local Wal Mart but for some reason they only have 2 gallons at my store whenever I need it.

Los Angeles County always used Delo in all of their Detroit's,

It was never inside the engines very long until it was slobbered out but all of the 6V-71's, 8V-71's all were in excess of a million miles.

When I left in the 70's we still had coaches from the late 50's running daily.

ah, the old two cycle Detroits. there was no way to stop them from leaking oil. then there was the drain tubes from the plenum chamber in the block.
I know a guy that has a 70s F250 with a 4-53 a 4 speed brownie and even a Jake brake.

I got 3 gallons of Valvoline Premium Blue 15w40 from O'Reilly's. It has a badge on it that says "The Only One endorsed and recommended by Cummins Inc."

It's reasonable cost but I can't recall now.

Cummins recommends a lot more oils than just Valvoline. Reading on Bob is the oil guy there are pros and cons to all the brands. The Valvoline and Rotella supposedly don’t have any friction modifiers in them Delo and Valvoline supposedly don’t have as good of viscosity retention. I’m thinking I’ll start using Mobil since it sounds like it is kind of a compromise between friction modifiers, viscosity retention, and detergents.
