Hey, hope you find out what all the ruckus was originating from. And by all means, keep us posted.

I do not get to Santa Ana to often though I do get to Fullerton Airport quite a bit, most of my travels are around the San Gabriel Valley.
I do like to visit Cummins Pacific in Irvine on occasion.
Because we are always on the move, we eat out often, we like to visit Norms, In-N-Out,
The Hat, Sonic for a snack on the way home.

Sounds like our culinary tastes are in line. My wife works just over the freeway from The airport in Irvine. There is a great lunch spot called Cowgirls near Edinger on Grand that we like. There's also the Ihop on MacArthur across from the airport. We have a Sonic just down the road from us at MacArthur and Fairview. The In-and-Out is at MacArthur and Bristol. Give me a call next time and we can meet up.

Funny,

I've never been to any one of those restaurants, food joints. My wife doesn't like much of anything other than diner food, pizza, and the rarity of something mexican style.

Good for me, as she has inexpensive tastes, and doesn't like much of anything ....... including me from time to time.

most of the time...

But I digress. Sounds like a fun "weirdo watching" place, but then I thought that was all of california.

Speaking of goofy weirdos. Check out this joint in Lambertville NJ. Now that's a place for weirdos. Just look at they way they park their jeeps out here. The nerve of some people...

You've never been to an Ihop? I thought they were worldwide.

Actually, most of the weird people populate the coasts along the western side. Of course that doesn't include DTR people. Out in the more rural east and deserts the people are more down-to-earth. Generally in the east part of the state people have to work for a living.

Well, we have a lot of folks near the cities (NYC for example) are somewhat... unkind, unfriendly, nasty, selfish, rude, crude, disgraceful, mean spirited, looking out for themselves, parasites, etc...

I'm sure you know the type.

And a few nice ones poking their heads out from time to time.

Well I went out a pulled the nut off the front of the IP.....still nice and tight. But once I got the nut off it appears as though I have a cracked gear. It's cracked from the center of the keyway slot, and out into the gear as far as I can see with mirrors and small lights. I'm hoping this is my noise....will have to find a new gear.

TCows, how did that half moon wedge look like? Do you think it's from a slip in alignment from the last time you re installed the pump? That key is soft metal, if I recall. Don't see how that could crack the pump gear.
Wether it cures the noise or not, good catch, as I'm sure that would have been catastrophic if it split in half going at high speeds!

The woodruff key looked fine, and the keyways appeared to be in alignment, so I doubt the key has suffered, but will find out I guess when I pull the timing cover to replace the gear. I'm also going to replace the oil pump at the same time.....since the lucas made the oil pressure build up slower perhaps some of my noise is inadequate oiling to the valve train?

Had the fan/clutch assembly fall off today when I fired the truck up....***! I had it off yesterday while working on the motor, but spun it back on, and even snugged it up with the big wrench, and fired the truck up and moved it around the yard, so how does it fall off today?

Another thing that happened the other morning when coming home from work. I Pulled into the driveway and swung in and was going to back up to my usual parking spot when something went "ting" and the shifter was all floppy. I thought I had sheared something internally, but when I got up around noon I pulled the boot up expecting the worst, but it was just my homemade mount for the pistol grip shifted had broke. SO pulled it out, and tossed in the original NV4500 shifter to get me rolling again.

Well can't complain too much since Ol' Patches made it through the nasty winter with almost no problems, or complaints. So now having to fix this stuff when the weather is decent is not too bad a deal IMO.

What I plan to do...

Today I assembled my Birthday Gift from my very lovely wife of the Plasma cutting torch. It completes my light duty cutting/welding outfit which I plan to use to fix my back bumper and trailer hitch.
