What's the best mileage box/programmer for 01/02?

A friend of mine has an 01 or 02 ho and wants a mileage box or programmer. He is not interested in power and doesn't want to have to install gauges. What would be the best for mileage, and what would be the best for budget?

1. Buy gauges anyway. 2. Hawk gauges while driving. 3. Look into a programmer....

Any suggestions other than the EZ, or is that going to be his best bet? It is and 02 by the way.

gauges are very very important even on a stock truck. Gauges should be a fuel pressure, boost, pyro, and if it's an auto get a tranny temp. A fuel system upgrade is in order even in stock form as well. If he doesn't want to address this problem then he should start saving for a new vp44. I would add anything without these upgrades. Once these are addressed then I would get edge comp or edge juice with attitude(this comes with gauges) or quad adrenaline with pulse( this also comes with gauges). These are all adjustable on the fly so you can do some tuning to get the most out of it. His mpg will be determined by the way he drives so having a box that has a wider range will help to find his sweet spot. The comp set on 2x4( I think) would be the same as edge ez. So by getting the comp you get the ez plus having more options as well for tuning. Just because the box as all out power does not mean he has to use it. Just my $.02

i have an EDGE EZ by 1 year now. when I bought the truck it stays at 15 16mpg; w the EZ I have never seen 16mpg again on my truck! i'm around 19mpg now, highway/city...It's a great module, it adds only 60hp, don't worry if you have a stock truck, but you feel the difference in your gas pedal.
i also raccomend a fuel pressure gauge, you can take a look at your fp and be safe on your VP44

Ditto x3. An Ez alone will help and add 275's to it and you've scored an economical 100 hp w/better fuel economy. FP and at least an EGT gauge is a must.
