For those of you (me until yesterday) whom have continued clunking sounds emitting from underneath the truck and through the steering wheel, take a look at your Skyjacker (if installed) upper and lower links poly bushings. At 30k miles, mine were torn up and the metal inserts oblonged. Very, very ugly. Skyjacker kindly informed me I had overtorqued the hardware during reinstallation, and to replace the bushings and reinstall at the proper torque . Just another idea in chasing sounds.

 

Do you have to buy new ones, or are they doing it under warranty?

 

Nope....had to buy. I didn't know how bad it was initially. I was under the truck just checking things out last week, and saw a piece of the outside of one bushing missing, so I ordered a complete new set (always have spares). Well, upon disassembly, I saw the real deal.

Another example of Skyjunker quality.....when I took all that red garbage off my truck, I could smack the end of the arm on the edge of the bench and the metal bushing just fell out.

Very difficult to overtorque the pivot bolts. The point is to get them tight enough so that the metal bushing doesn't rotate on the bolt, the poly bushing is supposed to rotate on the metal bushing.

 

Attack Aviation; supported the MEF out of Kalsu (south central; south of Baghdad). A real hole.

I wouldn't wait until it happens again.....I chased death wobble and alignment problems from 6 months after I put it on until I took it off. Couldn't keep a set of front tires under it for more than 20K before they were shot.

If all you're running is a leveling kit, I'd look at Carli or DT. Both have some really nice arms out and Carli can set you up with a good spring too.

Not chasing the "death wobble" at all. Between the DT Trac bar and the DSS, haven't ever experienced it. I've had the leveling kit on now for 3 years without a problem.
Just an observation about the bushings that I don't like at all. Could easily have been my fault during installation, but I won't replace the bushings again if it happens again.

 

Great now im worried about it! I have the 4.5" skjacker lift thats more like 5.5" Who makes a better controll arm for that hight?

 

Funny yall are having these problems. Other than the sheisty track bar bracket I haven't had a single issue with mine. It might not be the best out there but it's far from the worst.

 

I havnt had a problem yet. And the BDS on the other truck hasnt had any trouble. the BDS appears to be a copy of the skyjacker. we have 200000 miles on that one. hopefully its just a goofy thing and not real common

 

Yeah. I figure that it's just like these trucks. Some people blow through injection pumps and tranny's and ball joints left and right while other's last forever. It's a hit and miss thing.
