Skyjacker D25 coil question
Skyjacker D25 coil question
Anybody with the Skyjacker D25 2-1/2" coils having a problem with vibration or any other problems? I am getting ready to order them & want to make the right decision. Thanks in advance.
Re:Skyjacker D25 coil question
Yes I have them, and no, I have no vibration, at all. The guys that are talkin about the vibration have '02's without the CAD, and so far no one with a 6-speed(longer drivshaft) has had this problem.

Later, Rob
Re:Skyjacker D25 coil question
Where's the cheapest place to get them? I've got a line on a set of 2" spacers for $60, but with my milage I could use some new springs alltogether..

TIA,

Try www.summitracing.com I think they had them for $140 or so.

Later, Rob

Re:Skyjacker D25 coil question
I have the D25 coils on my truck, 2002 4x4 Ext 5-sp.

I've noticed a vibration at speeds above 72mph. I think it may be the tires not the drive line. I don't usually drive above 70mph so I am going to wait to figure this one out. However if I do find that it is my front drive line I will be going back to my stock coils and sell the D25's.

-CM
Re:Skyjacker D25 coil question
Dingo. Here are the instructions I wrote for another member. A buddy & I did the install a couple weeks ago. The ride is much better than stock. Just as smooth without the bouncing. Well a buddy & I put them in last night. Started at 5:00 pm & finished at 10:30 pm. It went pretty smooth. This is how we did it. You will need two spring compressors per coil spring. They need to be pretty stout. I rented some. First loosen wheel lug nuts so when you jack the truck up, you can easily take the nuts off without the wheel turning. You will need two floor jacks & two jack stands. Place one floor jack directly under the differential cover & the other one under the passanger side of the axle. Jack the front up quite a bit. We went as high as the jack stands could be extended. Then put the jack stands under the frame just behind where the lower track bars connect to the frame. Remove wheels. Take air cleaner box completely out of the engine bay and remove the shock nut on top of the shock tower. Then remove the shock tower. Remove the bottom shock bolt. Pull shock out through the top. On the driver's side remove the shock nut on top of the shock tower. Remove the shock tower. Remove the bottom shock bolt. The driver's side shock will have to be removed when you take the coil spring out. There is no room to get it out through the top because of all the hoses & stuff. Now unbolt the swaybar from the frame & let hang down. We found the easiest way to get D25 coil in later is to take the bolt out of the top track bar located right behind the bottom of the coil spring. Otherwise the axle would not lower far enough to squeeze the D25 spring in. We also had to take the bolts out of the brake line bracket that sits between the top & bottom track bars where they connect to the axle. On the passanger side we freed up the axle vent tube & the two other lines going to the axle that have something to do with engaging 4 wheel drive. After that, lower the two floor jacks simultaniously until there is enough room to get the stock coils out. Once I had them out, I cleaned the bottom spring mount out. They were caked with dirt. Now put the spring compressors on the D25. You will have to position the compressors on the coil so that when you go to put them in, they won't get in the way of anything else. I put a rag between the compressors & the coils so they wouldn't scratch the nice red paint on the D25's. Keep an eye on the compressors when you tighten them down. Kinda scary. Maybe I am paranoid. I kept thinking the compressors were going to break & kill me. We used air wrenches to tighten them down. Much faster & easier. Once you get them compressed enough, put the stock rubber pad & shock tower bolt ring on top of the D25. On the driver's side, don't forget to put the shock inside the coils before you put it in. I positioned the D25's in the same way the stock ones were seated. Just make a note of where the stock bottom coil end was when you took it out. Once you have them in, all you have to do is reverse the process of everything else. To get the bolt back through the track bar, we used a regular car jack on the front of the axle to rotate it to the right position. My truck sits perfectly level & the ride is excellent with the Bilstein 5100's. Make sure you get the ones that are for 3" lift. I got mine from www.offroadwarehouse.com & the D25's from www.summitracing.com If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call on me again. I am glad to help. Mark
