550 Hp To The Ground
550 Hp To The Ground
Ok looking at my sig I would like to get around 550hp to the ground with this truck. Now soon to come to this truck is a South Bend DD either a 3600 or 3850 not quite sure yet on that, then a II silver 62 ATS, exhaust manifold. I haul a 10K horse trailer about 3 to 4 days a week so I still use this as a daily driver but I would like to run this truck from time to time at the strip, I thought about getting bigger sticks as well any thoughts on all of this and when I do this ( minus the sticks) do you guys think I'll be around 550 or so? Thanks much appreciated

550hp would be asking a little to much for a tow rig unless you got twins
one option is a 64/14 and a set of mach 4's. you will only dyno around 475-500 but thats really all your going to get out of a HO with out drugs.
The best way to get a towable, daily drivable 550 hp is to swap your vp to a SO pump, run mach 6's, the drag comp and the smarty, with a sps 62 over a b2 twin turbo setup. this of course will cost upwards of 10 grand, but its really the only way to get your 550 towable hp.
IMO, i would just stick a turbo on your truck and call it good. but i have been down the high hp road, and its really not all its cracked up to be....

So what I'm hearing is it will be real tough to get 550 out of this truck right now without twins and and I would guess the HO injection pump is going to screw me to.
A high horse truck is fun to play with, BUT if you are using it to tow alot with, and work them like they were made for, about 100 or so extra hp is all your going to run with out working on something all the time. IMO

Im in the same boat as most of the HO 6 Spd guys. Im at the point where i need some sticks and a turbo. What about a ATS Aurora 5000?
It is very tough to get 550 out of a HO. It can be down, but will take $$$$$$$$$. Even with twins I couldn't get 550. When I dyno'd with twins I had my small set on (35/3b) and could only get 496 in 5th. I couldn't get a reading in 6th, but I'm positive it would have been over 500. If I would have had more time I'd of switched the 35 out with the 40 and gone agian, but I was tired and had a 4 hour drive home.
I would just buy a set of DDP 4's or mach 4. With a fueling box you should be at 500rwhp area. The biggest limit is your injection pump. Towing that heavy is a too much for bigger sticks. IMO. Buy the turbo with the idea of twins down the road, it will help towing out as you'll increase your torque #'s. For long hard pulls 500rwhp will over heat your cooling system anyways. EGT's will be pegged. 500rwhp makes a nice daily driver that doesn't smoke out the road once you put a S400 on the bottom of your turbo.
