Why doesn't someone make a "convertible" SRW/DRW kit for RV'ers?

Why doesn't someone make a "convertible" SRW/DRW kit for RV'ers?

I noticed so many RV'er's on my bike trip with a DEATH grip on the wheel in SRW trucks, who probably just could not live with a DRW as a DD

my understanding is the front wheels on a DRW are only like that so they can fit the back also.

so a standard SRW front wheel set up is fine, and you would have the stock spare tire in the stock set up.

why not make (or just sell the stock parts?) to convert a SRW to DRW (the hub adapter, lugs, rims, tires, and a spare) with some kind of temporary fender

and market that kit to folks who RV once in a blue in a moon, and actually need the stability and "margin of comfort and error" (in many ways..) that DRW brings, because they DON'T tow heavy all the time.

i just killed me to see a RV swaying all over, and there was some folks in a SRW, faces taut & unhappy.

RV'ing is supposed to be fun, no?

I think that you'd also need a different spring setup to reap the benefits of this conversion.

Give these a look. The fenders aren't temporary though.

Arrowcraft are great, work well and stronger than the axles. But, just go to 19.5 tires, keep them aired properly and do the same job. No white knuckles as long as the tire has the capacity and stiff sidewalls.

ok now keep in mind i am a newb to diesel but isnt the DRW package more than just 2 more wheels and tires? I know that the DRW is good if you blow a tire while hauling cuz you still have one to help you brake to a stop but wouldnt the beefier suspension and springs of a DRW help white knuckle syndrom more than 2 more tires??

There doesn't need to be such a kit. Buy what you need or within your vehicles capacity. That the way the old timers did it and they lived to be very old folks. It's the new way of adding adapters and kits that getting people hurt.

I don't think that you get extra springs with a DRW - you just get more tires.

you get more springs on a 3500 - for the added weight.

a 2500 SRW can hold the weight - but it wont' have the sway resistance of a 2500 DRW

t's the most often asked question on the trailering forum "SRW or DRW"

and it boils down to a lot more than toting a trailer once a year or so.

i know my wife & kids would NOT want to use my CTD as a DD if it were DRW.

I am not that familiar with the third gen trucks but the second gen trucks have the same options and basic package in either the 2500 or 3500. The rear axle on the 2500 is just a little wider. My 2500 was identical to a 3500 so far as springs, frame, driveline.

Also if you have tires that hold the capacity of the weight you are hauling, ie G rated tires, there is no sway.
