DRW to SRW and then SRW to DRW conversion questions
Looking at the possibilities. I have a 2002 3500 DRW and am looking to swap out with a buddy that has a 2001 SRW. I am thinking that the only thing that needs to be swaped out is taking the fenders off of mine and then the spacers for the wheels front and back. My question is, can he put the spacers on a Dana 70 axel from a Dana 80 to convert it to a DRW? I am also assuming that the fronts are the same and they should just bolt right up. Also, we both have rear disc brakes, so that shouldn't be a problem. He wants to put a few things together to make a DRW shortbed, and I am looking to go to a SRW for not really needing the Dually anymore. Am I missing anything that I should look out for with the conversion??

a dually bed is different, remove the fenders and you have to deal with the cut outs i'm not sure about the rear axle, on mine i have drum brakes but then i used '04 wheels..........

The rear axles have a little different width and the brakes are in a different location. For it to work you really need to swap axles. Changing a dually to single is easy going from a single to a dually is not.

yeah, you need to swap axles, no spacers on the rear, axles are different, wider/narrower etc.
Your truck will be a true dana 80, your buddies truck, if automatic will have a dana 70, if it's a stick then he'll likely have the dana hybrid which is a 80 center and 70 wheel bearing/hubs.
Swap axles and that'll be the easiest way.
