No boost and high egt's

Took the truck out this morning to due my errands. No problems for the first leg of the trip. Approx 1hr drive time. Second leg of the trip approx 25-30 minutes after a 2 hour cool down the truck started to feel very doggy and got progressivly worse. I have noticed this the past few times the truck has been driven for 45 minutes to an hour. Today was by far the worst it has been. The egt's were running super high 800-1200 if I allowed them to get up there. The truck had all it could do to reach 55 mph. I didnt think I was going to make it home as each hill became a bigger challenge and I was trying to baby it as to not let the egt's skyrocket. The boost was almost non existant. My gauge would read maybe 3lbs but never higher than five. The trucks temp was normal and so was my fuel pressure between 20-25lbs. The truck still would smoke black as normal. No blue. The turbo still would whine no grinding, clunking etc. I disconnected my Edge comp thinking that maybe the culprit and it did nothing.

Please help... Im stressed!!

Look at all the intercooler boots. You probably have one that is torn or has just popped off.

This sounds like a boost problem not a fuel problem. Funny though how you say this has happened before after a short drive followed by a short cool down. If all your boots are OK then I would look at maybe a sticky wastegate.

Would that also go along with a small burp or hicup the turbo may have experienced some weeks ago? As I think about it now I was on a hiway about 2 weeks ago and I did a slight roll on from about 65 mph and I got what I would turm a very small burp, hicup, etc from the truck.

That sounds a lot like mine did when the exhaust (cat) plugged. I don't think you have one though.

Boot had popped right off. Boost up and EGT's down. Thank you Wannadiesel. Why would such a thing happen?

The Edge Comp and the injectors had nothing to do with it, I'm sure... You're pushing close to double the intended boost through there now. The helpful hint I've read to prevent it happening again is to take off the boots, clean 'em out well, clean the ends of the pipes and intercooler, spray everything with hairspray and put it back together.

Seems quite a few 98 and 99 trucks had boots popping off. I saw that frequently when I worked for Chrysler back then. They actually changed the torque spec on the clamps after that, I think it was to 95 in. lbs. After retorquing them, never had any more problems. I like the hairspray idea though. That's a new one to me.

I remember doing that to new bicycle grips as a kid. Worked good for that.
