95 Dodge 5.9L Diesel

Newbie here, I have a 95 dodge that had a fuel leak, i took off filter and mechanical pump, now i,m trying to bleed the system but cant seem to get the air out, when i prime it at the pump to get the air out of the bleed above the filter i continually get small air bubbles, no steady flow of fuel.

I filled the filter with fuel and also the pre-heater cannister, still air. I feel like its sucking air in from somewhere. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just close up the system and prime until you hear a sound like hissing through your teeth.

If she doesn't start then, crack a few injector lines.

You can bleed the system much quicker by LIGHTLY adding air pressure to the fuel tank opening you only need a couple of pounds of pressure to do the job.
Saves a lot of pumping and fooling around.

Well we bleed the systems including the injector lines.
It cranked and ran for a moment and then died and will not start again.
We were getting good pressure out of six injectors. Keep bleeding?
Any thoughts

Sometimes you have to put the skinny pedal to the floor and hold it there until things straighten out it will run ruff just do not rev it up high.

In other words just enough pedal that it stays running until the air works out.

With everything you had off and open i would bet you got another slug of air in there and that is why it quit.

That is also why i told you to put air to the tank to push it all out.

Either you still have air in the system or you have a leak.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!

Okay, stupid question asked by someone who has done it...

Is your tank full of fuel?? Don't trust your fuel gauge.

Also where was the fuel leak?

Thats what we did after it cranked just a nice steady idle until it quite.
I'll fill the tank with air and try again.
