Which truck do you own???? Is it the original tranny?

Fill out your sig.

My tranny was identified on a sticker in the glove box.

Auto or stick?

I assume you are just trying to get a new filter...

The brown and bubbly can be from a number of things, break down, excessive heat, water... How many miles on the truck, how many miles on the fluid.

On edit - Also you should post up in the 3rd gen section. some guys, me included, don't look at the help section every day.

On 2nd Edit - Go here. Same question lots of good info.
