1992 throttle position sensor failing, again!
had 62,000kms on my truck (last summer) when i noticed it starting to slip out of high gear(automatic). assumed the worst, figgered tranny slipping, got tranny flush done, still slipped. dealership diagnosed the TPS faulty. put in new one, $660.00 cdn, worked great. put on 2000 more kms, started doing it again. first thought it was gelling fuel, (got cold as hell up here) still had some summer fuel in. ran fuel out, still does it.
PROBLEM: sometimes (but not all the time) when it gets warm it starts dropping out of high gear, revving up and then shifting up eventually.
SOLUTION: stomp pedal to floor, take it up to 115+ kms/hr and keep it there, it usually stays then. drop below 110 and it drops out of gear.
i suppose it is possible that the new tps is faulty, but could there be something else causing it? anyone else have this trouble? am taking it to dealership tomorrow and am probably gonna get hosed on labour as they try to diagnose this one... HELP!
