pivoting steering linkage: is it normal?

Ive noticed some poping noise on my 2007 2500 4x4. this truck has the 2008 steering. I got under the truck to look for anything loose and noticed the steering linkage can pivot fairly easily. Didnt find anything else obviously loose. Can anyone tell me if its normal to be able to pivot this steering linkage by hand?

I'd say that's a very worn tie rod end, it should not move at all by hand.

it looks to be pretty tight to me, the part that's moving is a type of ball joint and it's supposed to move in that fashion .......if it was worn out it would move a lot more and easier

John, are you positive? I only ask because I know they pivot, but mine (Less than 6 months old) do not budge at all, by hand of course.

P.S. and I'm really strong or at least thought I was...

Looks normal to me, I just replaced all of my linkages with synergy and it does the same thing. Both ends are setting on a ball and they should rotate in all directionsto prevent binding.

Just today I noticed a slight thump under the truck when turning at slow speed. Parking lots etc. I can feel a little thump on the floor too. Gonna jack it up and take a look later today.

Check your track bar bushings. Mine was making a similar noise and bump feel. I replace the bushings and all is good now. Old bushings were toast.

My steering is all after market Spicer stuff, close to 2 yrs old now, with a few thousand km on it and no way I can move any of it or twist it by hand.
I have a BD track bar as well. as long as yours is not sloppy I would just keep a check on it every so often.
